We have been Marriott Titanium for the past two years and I am really beginning to question the value of this status. I will say that we've had good experiences in European hotels, but in the US and Canada, we've gotten little to no value out of it.
1. In a trip to Canada/Pacific NW last fall, all lounges were closed and housekeeping was only done upon request;
2. In a hotel in Charlotte, I was refused an upgrade saying none were available. I checked when I got to the room and there were suites available for that night. When I called back to the front desk, the agent claimed that they had just had some last minute cancellations, but still did not upgrade us. The Titanium support number was worthless in terms of getting a resolution.
3. At an overnight stay in the Renaissance at LAX, we waited for over an hour for a shuttle pick up. There was no answer at the hotel's front desk. Again, no help from the Titanium support number.
4. Two nights ago, we had an overnight stay at the Seatac Marriott, which I had booked with a free night certificate back in July. My confirmation was for a king bed. We got to the room and discovered it had two queens. The only alternative they would offer us was a much smaller king bed on the ground floor that only had a desk chair for sitting and did not even have a clock. Once again, Titanium Support proved worthless. They said they had documented the problem was would get back to me in 5 business days! Once again, after a "last minute" cancellation, front desk offered us a king bedroom that at least had an upholstered chair for sitting on the 4th floor. By this time, it was after 11 and the hotel restaurant was closed. I am still trying to get an explanation for what happened to my confirmed king reservation. On the day of check-in the reservation no longer appeared in my Marriott app and is not reflected in my completed stays.
For at least 3 of the stays I've had in the past year, the stays did not get credited to my account and I had to waste time sending in documentation to get the credit. I'm sure I will have to do it again for this stay since it is no longer reflected in my account.
