Owner of a couple WKORV weeks which used to have me at 3star with Vistana. Suddenly I am 4star and my Marriott platinum status is now Titanium! Que Pasa? And will this continue or is it over in January?

Welcome to Abound

Not sure I follow. How did he become Titanium?
Because of the new Abound program. They now fall under a different owner level and that comes with titanium vs platinum. Welcome to the new Abound program.

This is great benefits that surprises me. Didn’t realize resale would also qualify the status. Now I don’t need to stay in Marriott every year to qualify status anymore.

Where do I see it in my MVCI owner account? I do have 5* given to me on my StarOptions acct now

He’s probably Presidental now, which also gets Titanium I believe.
I didn't see that. We are Chairman's Club, but I don't really think we qualify as that with our Staroptions. Our weeks are never going to be enrolled in Marriott's Abound. I guess I don't get why we were welcomed as Chairman's Club at Marriott's Cypress Harbour last month.

I would love to know why Marriott's website is always down for me. I will have to call and reserve my weeks.

Does anybody know if the Abound provided Marriott levels are expected to be in place for everybody?

I have a resale WKORVN that ends up with Select/Platinum Bonvoy status. My latest bill confirms that I’m Select. However, my Marriott Bonvoy status is still at Gold.

Not sure if I should just wait/be patient or this is a transition glitch that I need to contact Marriott to fix.

Is your Bonvoy number linked to your Vistana account? I had to ask them to link it for me earlier this year and my status went up as a result.

We have been Marriott Titanium for the past two years and I am really beginning to question the value of this status. I will say that we've had good experiences in European hotels, but in the US and Canada, we've gotten little to no value out of it.

1. In a trip to Canada/Pacific NW last fall, all lounges were closed and housekeeping was only done upon request;
2. In a hotel in Charlotte, I was refused an upgrade saying none were available. I checked when I got to the room and there were suites available for that night. When I called back to the front desk, the agent claimed that they had just had some last minute cancellations, but still did not upgrade us. The Titanium support number was worthless in terms of getting a resolution.
3. At an overnight stay in the Renaissance at LAX, we waited for over an hour for a shuttle pick up. There was no answer at the hotel's front desk. Again, no help from the Titanium support number.
4. Two nights ago, we had an overnight stay at the Seatac Marriott, which I had booked with a free night certificate back in July. My confirmation was for a king bed. We got to the room and discovered it had two queens. The only alternative they would offer us was a much smaller king bed on the ground floor that only had a desk chair for sitting and did not even have a clock. Once again, Titanium Support proved worthless. They said they had documented the problem was would get back to me in 5 business days! Once again, after a "last minute" cancellation, front desk offered us a king bedroom that at least had an upholstered chair for sitting on the 4th floor. By this time, it was after 11 and the hotel restaurant was closed. I am still trying to get an explanation for what happened to my confirmed king reservation. On the day of check-in the reservation no longer appeared in my Marriott app and is not reflected in my completed stays.

For at least 3 of the stays I've had in the past year, the stays did not get credited to my account and I had to waste time sending in documentation to get the credit. I'm sure I will have to do it again for this stay since it is no longer reflected in my account.

@Eric B -- You were right. My bonvoy account wasn't linked. Thanks.

If anybody else needs to fix this and doesn't want to bother calling/waiting on hold you can just email them via the online form. https://www.vistana.com/contact-us. Provide your name and bonvoy number. Might save a round of email exchanges. No big deal, but the update also won't be immediate. The rep mentioned "your new Marriott Bonvoy level will take effect on January 2023."

The grass isn’t greener elsewhere. Just ask Hilton Diamond elite members. There is currently an arms race to see which loyalty program will be worthless first. You can now essentially buy top elite status with a credit card. Hyatt still has some resemblance of the old SPG, but it’s only a matter of time.
