I suggest -
1. Checking out the resorts in the HGVC system here: http://www.hiltongrandvacations.com/explore. Identify the resorts you'd likely visit and what time of year (Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze season), so you can see how many points will be required for the accommodations you need. Each resort has a Points Chart.
2. Determine how many points you need in a year to travel within the HGVC system.
3. Do some market research on which resort(s) and season(s) will yield the points you need and what the going resale prices are currently. You can start with the TUG Marketplace - http://tug2.com/timeshare-marketplace.aspx. There are other resale broker sites and Redweek that you can visit. Establish a budget for the purchase upfront and ongoing annual fees.
4. Find a legitimate seller or broker who has what you want and negotiate a deal. Be careful to avoid scams. Read up on the advice articles in the Buying section of TUG here: http://tugbbs.com/forums/index.php?forums/buying-selling-renting.13/
Once your deal closes and ownership transfers, HGVC will create your new account which will allow you access to the HGVC portal for exchanges in HGVC resorts or RCI.
Good luck!![]()
I'm looking for someone to rent their points to me. I am not a HGVC owner. One thing is not clear to me: Are you looking to buy their contract in perpetuity, or are you looking to rent their points for just several stays in the future?
Cheers.
You'll probably find some in the Marketplace, which you can access by clicking the Marketplace link at the top of this page.I'm looking for someone to rent their points to me. I am not a HGVC owner.
I would like someone to book on my behalf via their points.
One thing to be aware of, owners are not supposed to rent out any units that they don't own. So, someone would need to own Elara in the season and room size that you want to rent to comply with the rules. You'll certainly find owners who will rent places where they don't own and who will fly under the radar, but just wanted to give you a head's up in the off chance that your rental doesn't go as planned.
In general, I don't follow rules I don't agree with as long as there does not appear to be a victim.
The "victim" in this case may not be obvious, but how about fellow members who have to compete with your rental enterprise when booking club stays. IOW, if you stay away from the 9-month window, the rest of us will have a better chance of getting what we want. Well, it's only a suggestion.
