How America captured a German submarine right before D-Day

My younger brother's late Father-in-law was a Navy veteran who was part of the boarding party
that captured U-505.The German submarine is now on display at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago
along with commemorative nameplates honoring the boarding-party members. Admiral King, Naval Chief of Staff,
issued orders at the time to keep the capture secret in an effort not to disrupt D-Day.

I wish they had kept some of the WW2 Japanese subs

"After the end of the conflict, several of Japan's most innovative and advanced submarines were sent to Hawaii for inspection in "Operation Road's End" (I-400, I-401, I-201, and I-203) before being scuttled by the U.S. Navy in 1946 when the Soviet Union demanded access to the IJN submarines."
