Hello all! I was researching restaurants in Disney or nearby that we could go with our kids on the evening of our arrival, (a Saturday), and I remembered that we were all thought the House of Blues in DTD was really cool - my hubby is a Blue's Brother's fan. I would like to have a "plan" for that evening and was going to make a reservation but I saw on the disney site that they recommend it for "big kids", mine are 8, 8 and 4, all are used to eating out and enjoy "theme" restaurants. I think they will fine but I wanted to check with folks who have been there and if you have, would you recommend it for our family?

I ate there once and thought the menu was kinda weird. If you can preview a menu online, or at least check it out before you go in, that would be good. Bongos has some strange things on the menu, too. The most generic food for kids might be Puck's Express, they have really good pizzas for one. The Rainforest Cafe is probably my favorite theme restaurant at DTD. The Earl of Sandwich is good if you're not up for a big meal. Captain Jack's is good too.

I do not think of House of Blues as a place for young kids. It is really more like a bar/pub. IMHO.

Rainforest Cafe is much more appropriate and fun for kids.

One of the best shows there is the Gospel Sunday Brunch...like an old time revival....awesome!...even my Jewish friends were dancing there.

The first time we took our kids to a HOB was about 5 years ago in Disneyland. They were 9 & 7 years old and were also experienced in eating out (we probably eat out way too often :) ). We were there later in the evening and the kids really enjoyed the food - though they were too young to appreciate the "theme".

I think the Rain Forest Cafe at DTD would be much better suited for your kids. I too think House of Blues has too much of an bar atmosphere.

If you choose to go to Rain Forest Cafe, the best bang for the buck, IMHO, is the Awesome Appetizer. It's plenty for light lunch for two or a meal for one. It is a bit spicy, though, so if some one doesn't do hot (even slightly) it's not for them.
