We have owned a 1-week timeshare with Holiday Inn (used to be Silverleaf) for many years. It is a 2BR lock-off unit, so we can get two weeks per year by depositing them separately. Anyway, we used the timeshare religiously when our kids were growing up and thoroughly enjoyed the vacations we were able to take using timeshares. Now that we are older and the kids are grown, we are ready to move on from the maintenance fees and do different types of travel. Our unit is paid off completely and maintenance fees are up to date. Does anyone have any ideas on how to deed this back to Holiday Inn, or to someone who would like to take over the maintenance fees? I have searched some threads, but haven't found what I was looking for. Any advice? Thanks in advance! JL

Yes, there's a large thread about the HICV Horizons program where HICV will take back your deed for $1200 that you pay them. READ THE THREAD to know what's involved, so you don't pay extra mf's or lose a reservation.

Search (or click?): Horizons by Holiday Inn Club Vacations

Best of luck.

You can post it in the free timeshare forum. Be sure to read the sticky on what to include. Many here giving away timeshares use LT Transfer for closing when you find a taker. You may sweeten the deal by covering closing costs, free use year etc.
You can also list in the tug marketplace (free) and Redweek. Just a warning with Redweek, you are likely better off doing a self post instead of letting Redweek handle it. If you find a buyer, you then use LT Transfer. Redweek full service can be a mess sometimes (maybe all the time?).
Not sure about the deed back route. Others might be able to help on that front. You can also call the resort and see what they say.
Here is a link that might be helpful on the deed back

Thanks for your help! I will definitely check these options out.

Just an update on the Horizons program with Holiday Inn that will get you out of your timeshare. It works! I followed the directions as per the advice given on TUG, called the Horizons phone number, and talked with a very nice lady who walked me through the entire process. It took a few months, but I just got my letter confirming that I am no longer an owner and no longer owe maintenance fees (which had gone up to almost $150 per month). We enjoyed our timeshare while our kids were young, and don't regret the purchase. But, with older kids, more select travel, and the increasing availability of VRBO and Airbnb, it was time for us to look for ways to get out of our timeshare. So, thanks TUG for the advice, and I will remain a member so we can rent someone's timeshare in the future. Cheers!

very happy you were able to find a solution to exit your timeshare without falling for the scammers out there!

renting is awesome! (heck even I rent off TUG!)

We will be doing this in the near future. They closed our resort years ago and we want out. Did you have to pay their ridiculous fee of $1200.00?

Yes, I had to pay the year's maintenance fees, plus the 1200. But, I looked at it as paying one-year maintenance fees and not having to pay them ever again. Expensive, yes, but I think it was worth it for us.

So here we go. We will be voting to sell and be out of the mf's hopefully soon without paying them their ridiculous fee of $1200.00

This is for their "RIGHTSIZING PROJECT"

Impacted Resorts

The proposed plans for the Project include the removal of the following from the scope of the applicable vacation ownership Declarations of record and from the HICV network:
  • The entire properties at Holly Lake Resort, Lake o’ the Woods Resort, and Ozark Mountain Resort.
  • Select buildings and units at Fox River Resort, Hill Country Resort, Piney Shores Resort, and Villages Resort – see chart
