Sadly they should rename Desert Club.."Holiday Inn Hotel" We had been original weeks owners of OrangeLake in Kissimmee Gave it up after 26 years on mounting maintenance fees..We had been to Desert Club 4 times in the past..Checked in and was told(We called 3 weeks before confirming 2 weeks in same unit) Cant give you 2 weeks in same unit, will not know until next wednesday!!! So we couldnt unpack bought 2 weeks worth of food..Finally we were "granted" a second week in our unit..Unit had same furniture we had 6 years ago..Stay away all ..This Holiday Inn is a Hotel..they make more money renting over $300 a night then having space for original Weeks owners..14 days at $300 is $2100 compared to 2 RCI exchange fees...Renters and Points 3 and 4 day stays have made Timeshares back into Hotels..

There was a similar thread on the Wyndham page. Expect this to become more common in the industry.

I had stayed at the Desert Club a few times by renting from rci.

I talked to a few of the original owners, it has an interesting history.

The original Desert Club before Holiday Inn was across the street which is now a parking lot.
Harrahs owned what is now the Desert Club where they rented apartments to employees.
The owners were very happy to swap with Harrahs who updated the units as part of the deal.
The new Desert Club has many more units, so somehow Holiday Inn became part of the package to manage, rent, and sell timeshares.

It has a long history. It was a something (or more than 1 somethings), then Ramada (when I picked up a week via auction in the 1990s), then Summer Bay, then HICV. It got the buy out offer frame Harrah's when it was a Summer Bay. They offered current owners a $100 fee to convert to HICV points.

It was also one of the first timeshares in LV, along with Polo Club, when there wasn't the poliferation there is now. It used to trade well, but now besides say Orlando and MB, they are likely more TS here than any other place.
