We will spend the Labor Day weekend as a mini-vacation at the Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel & Spa. We have never stayed there before but thought it might be a nice place to get away for the weekend. The hotel use to be a Radisson but was then purchased by Hilton. My plan is relax and get away from it all. If the weather is good, we may go to Sea World, which is very close. I will write a review in case any other Tuggers are considering a trip to San Antonio and wish to stay someplace other than the Riverwalk.

Do any of you out there in Tugger Land have any plans for the Labor Day weekend?

We were upgraded twice as vacancies became available. We are now in a Presidential suite. The room is very nice. The food is good. The pools are excellent. Most of the people here are families with small children. SeaWorld is very close and the hotel has a shuttle. So far, so good. However, it has been very overcast. The hotel has some very nice ballrooms and seems well equipped to handle wedding receptions.

We drove from the hotel to Bandera. This is about a 30-35 minute drive through the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Apparently, they have a festival every labor day weekend in Bandera to celebrate the founding of the town. There were parades, open air booths, horses, and motorcycles all over. It was really quite exciting. This hotel seems ideally situated to explore the Hill Country. The shuttle to SeaWorld is running every 15 -20 minutes for all the people with small children. I would like to go visit SeaWorld tomorrow but my wife may have other plans, such as visiting Wimberly or Fredricksburg. The Hyatt San Antonio Hill Country Golf Resort and Spa is right next door to the Hilton San Antonio Hill Country if any of you are interesed in golf.

We spent yesterday relaxing and exercising at the pools.

We did not take the shuttle to SeaWorld because my wife did not want to spend the day standing in lines.

Bandera is becomming a hot tourist destination.

We had lunch at Pipe Creek Junction in nearby Pipe Creek, TX. They made an exception and let me in anyway.

I hope this gives you an idea of some of the things you can do and see outside of the RiverWalk, when you visit San Antonio. The Hilton San Antonio Hill Country is currently undergoing renovations since the hotel was recently purchased from Radisson. The major renovations will begin tomorrow.

We just came back from Bandera late Saturday. We had lunch at the local restaurant you posted a pic of. I posted a few pics of the parade on another thread. We also went Friday night to the PowWow where they had riders shooting for best time....and would you know it a gal won it. The PowWow would not allow any picture taking.
