I booked 3 weeks for next may at the hilton in miami beach. We will be in orlando first for a few weeks and use the pool, theme parks, shopping etc.

Is 3 weeks too long to spend there in a 1 bedroom with two 3 year olds. I like the idea of no car and hopefully miami beach will not be too crowded. Plan is to stock up on food supplies before arriving. Maybe rent a car for an overnight somewhere else.

Or leave early and have a friend use the last part?

Very happy with the trade through rci.

I hope you arn't going to be there for Memorial Day. (search for Memorial Day Miami beach, or Urban Fest for more information). If you are, I would say that it is probably a high risk for a young child. Depending on your needs, Grocery options arn't too far away (Pharmacies near by have some grocery items, but prices may be a little more) . Read the reviews in TUG on this resort to get a full understanding of what others have done.

Depending on what you want to do, you may want a car, especially with young ones (public transit is difficult, most sites in south florida have to be driven to from there if you want to go to the zoo or other similar things), I think they just changed car seat laws to require all children under 4 to be in a car seat.

Under florida Statues, if you use a taxi and don't have a car seat, YOU (The parent/guardien) are legally liable when the taxi is pulled over. This means that you have very few options to get to Hotel without a Rental:

1. Bring car seats for CAB use (this will be a hassel, and they will probably charge you time while you are installing)
2. Arrange pick up with a car already outfitted with car seats (you will have to pre-reserve this option assuming it is even possible.
3. Be dependent on Public transit (Good luck getting from airport to the property).

Miami is our home resort and we have stayed there about 15 times. We love it for 3-5 days. However, 3 weeks there with two 3 year-olds could be difficult. The allure is the location across the street from the ocean and great restaurants and nightlife. Not sure what you will do to keep the little ones busy. Could probably be OK for a week.

We will be gone before Memorial Day. We will have car seats from our trip to orlando and need them in the rental down to miami and for any day/overnight trips.

We will use uber to get around for longer trips if needed. The drivers seem to be much more helpful. I have never liked the taxi industry as a whole.

Public transportation may work in south beach.

Most likely do a lot of walking to try to tire my sons out.

Access to a pool would be a huge plus.

Uber and ride sharing was recently banned from broward county, other counties (including dade) are also looking into bans. . I would be cautious using or expecting to rely on them in south Florida.

There is no pool, but there is a park a short walk away and the ocean. It can and does get hot during day with high uv and whatnot in may. .

We were there end of June for a week. One week was way more than enough for us. I was ready to leave. Fun atmosphere for a couple of days, but then it gets old quick. A lot of people all the time.

Miami Beach with Kids?

We love Miami Beach for the people watching, restaurants, clubs, music, dancing, drinking and walking(we don't drink and drive). We own there and fell in love with the Hilton Timeshare System there. However, of all the Hilton Timeshares it would be the last place I would take kids. We have taken our Grandchildren to Orlando, New Hampshire, and Williamsburg. The love the Pools and Activities at the resorts at those places. Miami Beach has no pools and activities. The attraction is Miami Beach with many adult activities within walking distance. We hope someday to send our daughter and son-in-law to experience Miami Beach, without the children. However, we wouldn't bring our Grandchildren there until they were over 21.

We will be there in January for 5 days. Looking forward to escaping the northeast winter, travelling with our daughters aged 19 and 25. We will be happy with a few beach days, and there's always the hot tubs and lounge chairs on the roof.

My oldest, who now lives in Florida after attending college there, has been to South Beach numerous times with her sorority sisters, my 19 year old is looking forward to spending time in a new spot in Florida (we've never stayed on South Beach). We are planning one day to drive to Key West (I really want to return to the Sunset celebration) or Bahia Honda (love this beach). I reserved a room overnight on one of the Keys for cheap, just in case we stay late and don't want to drive back to Miami. We are also planning a road trip to the west coast to visit family another day.

We did Orlando last January, and the weather was a little too "cold" for me.

South Beach is the perfect place for a 25 year old. The 19 year-old could probably tag along with the "right ID". Hint: I have boys. A few of our favorites are:

1. Front Porch for breakfast a few blocks north.
2. Espanola Way and lunch or dinner at A La Folie Cafe
3. Dinner at Juvia on Lincoln (Expensive)
4. Bar scene at the Delano is fun late night
5. For Cuban Abuela's Cuban Kitchen on Meridian Avenue.
6. Smith and Wollensky although a chain is in a nice location on the water south of fifth. Joe's Stone Crab is near there also. We like the takeout place.
