Hilton Head’s iconic oceanside bartender James Lisenby, aka "Pool Bar Jim", has died at age 76.
He has had a long illness and had stepped away from his first love, that of serving his "thousands of best friends" and seemingly conversing
with many of them at the same time. To say he will be missed is a monumental understatement. He was one of the best, and most of all was dearly loved by all who knew him.
He was perhaps the most deserving of anyone for the title of "Hilton Head Island's #1 Ambassador to the World".
He served most lovingly at Marriott Grande Ocean for many years, and later opened his bar poolside at the Sea Crest property just up the beach.
Rest in peace, my dear friend.

He dropped by our Tailgate at one of the UGA football games once (his son attended Georgia),
and it was one of the most enjoyable afternoons I've ever had. He always had that infectious smile,
and he always had the "best story"....maybe the best four stories!!! I'm quite sure the fried chicken and maybe a few beers helped those stories!!!!!
