Across the street from the construction of the new Marriott Courtyard Hotel
on Pope Avenue (near Coligny), a lot of activity has suddenly exploded.

Groundbreaking and aggressive grading in preparation for the new Lowcountry Celebration Park (Coligny Area Redevelopment Initiative) is underway. It will be an inconvenience for traffic, etc. for a while, but it will be a greatly anticipated feature that will draw many, and provide numerous activities for families (and finally something for teens). The developers call it a Hilton Head "game-changer".
A few others say it's a bad thing---removing trees and a lagoon and turning the area into something unnatural.
Yet, work has begun.

Pope Ave will never be the same. Look for weekend singing & band sessions.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a great amenity. The proximity to Grande Ocean (~1 mile) makes me even more excited to take our family down there for our first visit next year.

You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. looks like a good plan and should easily blend into the surroundings. Looking forward to its completion.
