Has anyone heard about potential plans to add another TS tower in the village? I read somewhere that HGVC is considering adding another tower between GW and Kalia.

I've consider going to Honolulu but if another tower goes up, I may just pass on staying in the village.

They just opened Grand Islander, to the East of Kalia and had considered another building where the rainbow bazaar is. I believe that is on hold now, and may have been mothballed completely. I am curious to see how the addition of Grand Islander impacts the congestion at that property.

Best,

Greg

I dont think grand islander is checking in guests yet. They were still working throughout the tower and the construction fencing was still up. This was just 3 weeks ago during Christmas week.
Without guests from the grand islander yet the resort was packed. That could be because it was christmas week and there are a lot of people there on vacation.
So when are you coming back to oahu next gregt? Hope to have a meet and swap stories again.

We were at HHV in the Lagoon tower the first time a little before the Grand Waikakian opened and thought it was nice. The second time we stayed in the Grand Waikakian and HHV felt awfully crowded. So much so we don't have a great deal of desire to go back. Once they open the new tower I don't want to think about how crowded HHV will become. If they ever go forward with another tower, I'm as positive as one can be that we won't be back.

I think the crowding issue depends on how nice (and how large) the new pool area is. We own at the Lagoon tower and consider the new-ish waterslide/pool area to be a reasonable trade-off for the presence of the GW tower. In fact our first post-GW visit to the HHV we found the 'old' pools to be less crowded with many guests at the 'new' waterslide pool....though in subsequent visits that seems to have equalized.

I'm also curious what will be happening to the ground floor stores/restaurants around the Tapa, Diamonhead, and (if anything) the new GI tower. They seemed kind of dead the last time we visited (Feb 2016). Honestly we were more affected by HGVC taking over the space in the bottom of the Lagoon tower previously occupied by the general store. And the loss of the penguins. And the closing of the 'Hawaiiana' shop...but that was a few years back.

You have several posts regarding the Grand Islander so I know you're aware of this new tower at HHV.

Perhaps you're not aware of the original master plan for HHV that was published back in 2010. It indicated two new timeshare towers at HHV. So far, we haven't heard much about the 2nd tower. Perhaps HGVC wants to get weeks sold off in the 1st tower since it's the furthest away from the ocean before indicating any intent to offer another option that will be closer to the ocean (similar to Kings land and the Ocean Tower at Waikoloa Village).

Hi,
Yes, I'm familiar with the Grand Islander opening up over by the old bus loading area. However, I read somewhere that on the corner between Grand Waikikian and Kali Tower, HGVC is considering a new tower. The picture here doesn't show any plans for a tower on this corner.

I'm going to check Google to see if I can find the article and I'll post it here.

Hilton Hawaiian Village may get even bigger
Jan 9, 2017, 7:15am HST

Park Hotels & Resorts Inc., the real estate investment trust recently spun off by Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc., may develop a new hotel or time-share tower at the iconic Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, which is the largest in the Hilton chain of hotels and the biggest resort in Hawaii, Pacific Business News has learned.

Park Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: PK), in a recent presentation to investors, revealed that a future project at the Hilton Hawaiian Village could involve developing a luxury hotel, time-share or residential project that would include retail at its “Ala Moana Land Parcel” located between the Grand Waikikian Tower and the Kalia Tower along Ala Moana Boulevard in Waikiki.

Found the link to the Park Hotels & Resort presentation.
It talks about the potential opportunity at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on page 43 - http://otp.investis.com/clients/us/...gId=11726719&Cik=0001617406&Type=PDF&hasPdf=1

The Grandview at Las Vegas 122000 points annually....
When we were there in Nov. although the crowds were large I never felt it was that bad.... we never had any problems in finding places to eat in the complex and it never felt over crowded... the only problem I could see is parking.... if they add the new TS to the garage already shared by the Rainbow and the Grand Wakakkian... THAT could be a problem...... Dave

If they have to build another one, I'd rather it be there than in front of the Kalia over the village blocking the view from where I own. I didn't realize Hilton owned that piece of land and have wondered why not. I also think someone blew it when the Iiikai was in financial difficulty and Hilton didn't grab that. I's the only direction they could expand property with except getting further from the ocean.

I was there in May and the only area that felt crowded was the pool. It will be interesting to see how Grand Islander affects that since the pool for that tower is small. This was the first year we didn't rent a car, so parking wasn't an issue, Uber was far more convenient.
