Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort will restart its Waikiki Starlight Luau on the Beachfront Great Lawn Friday.

The luau will take resume every Friday starting March 5. It’s a big step toward normalcy for the Hilton Hawaiian Village, which just reopened its doors on Dec. 15 following a months-long pandemic-related closure.

“We’re very pleased to start our luau again, which has become a memorable part of many vacations at Hilton Hawaiian Village,” said Jeffrey Yedlin, hotel manager of the resort, said in a statement. “Our Waikiki Starlight Luau performers with Tihati Productions and our team members are excited about this reopening. The new location on the Great Lawn makes it Waikiki’s only outdoor luau, which provides fresh air, ample room for social distancing, and is one of our most beautiful beachfront locations at the resort.”

We attended it on the Great Lawn 14 years ago. Great to hear that it is returning. This may be temporary until occupancy builds up again and they have 4 or 5 Luaus a week and the conferences start to book again and will pay to have a Luau on the Great Lawn.

Yes, I remember when it used to be on the Great Lawn.

Upcoming stay in Lagoon. What would be the best rooms with best views of luau? Home week is 2br ov which sounds like the other side facing the marina, whereas we'd want one lower and facing the lawn. Possible to switch, not possible, or just a bad idea? From say the 8th floor we could have a great luau view!

2BR Ocean View could be on the Luau side depending on availability. I would call up and request the Diamond Head Side of the Building, which is over the Luau. If you want a lower floor that would most probably have more availability so you should be good. The lowest floor is 3 which may be too low for you so I would talk to the front desk personnel when you call and be specific how low you want. The 8th floor may not be available but something should be.

As stated above, Two bedroom plus in the Lagoon Tower is ocean view. Ocean view (OV) rooms are on both sides of the building. Just request a room on the Diamond Head side. See Floor Plan below.

NOTE: Great Lawn events are nice but tend to be loud. The Lagoon Tower is an older building (converted apartment building built in 1965). It doesn’t have the soundproofing like the other timeshare towers.

Thanks! In all our stays at Lagoon i don't know if we've ever stayed on the Lawn side. I figure the luau would be over quite early, we are night owls. So luau noise itself wouldn't concern us but maybe general pedestrian activity, rolling carts, etc would late at night. Need to think about it.

Yippee! Cannot wait for things to get back to normal so we can travel again. We enjoyed the free show and music taking place on the roof of the convention center watching from the rear suites of Lagoon.

If you’re night owls you’ll be ok. Everything quiets down at midnight.

At HHV now. No Luau today (Mar 5). I saw them Practicing yesterday but now show today. No fireworks too.

They moved the March 5th Luau inside.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - After halting the event for nearly a year, the Hilton Hawaiian Village put on its Waikiki Starlight Luau for a room full of guests on Friday.
The Waikiki Starlight Luau is usually held on the beachfront “Great Lawn” at the resort, but due to bad weather the show was moved to one of the ballrooms.
According to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Managing Director Debi Bishop, their first show was sold out with 150 guests in attendance.

How do I find the front desk number?

I am waiting on the Friday night fireworks to come back. It is a good show.

I enjoy the Hilton Fireworks also, however, they are nothing compared to the New Year's Eve Fireworks and the Honolulu Festival Fireworks at the end of the Honolulu Festival in early March. I am sure both of these were cancelled this winter, but I am looking forward to them next winter.

Yes the Nagoya fireworks were cancelled unfortunately. All fireworks shows have been cancelled from late March 2020 till now.

The Nagoya fireworks will probably not happen this year. Hopefully the July 4th and New Years shows will resume. But you can see great shows in the residence areas from Pearl city to Kapolei close to midnight.

How would you rank the firework shows? I‘ve only seen the July 4th fireworks years ago.

So before I call, can anyone weigh in on the pluses and minuses of asking to be on the great Lawn side or the marina side? I think I've only been on the marina side. Home week 8400 starts at what floor?

The Nagoya fireworks on the last night of the Honolulu Festival in early March are off the coast near the Duke's Statue are the best ones I have ever seen in Hawaii. New Year's Eve in the same area are also very good. We have never been there on July 4th so I can't comment but someone here on TUG mentioned a few months ago that July 4th was no big deal compared to New Years Eve.

I believe that 8400 points in the Lagoon Towere are 2 BR Plus Units. They are on every floor on the Diamond Head side and from the 9th Floor up Marina Side of the Building. The Diamond Head side does get a very strong morning and early after sun which can make it hot and uncomfortable to sit on the Lanai. You may need to shut the sliding glass door and run the air-conditioning. On the Marina Side you can see a sunset during most of the year from March to October. I don't think you can see it on the Diamond Head Side
