Currently considering buying into one of Hilton, Wyndham, and Marriott. I'm attempting to figure out what comparable amounts of points are in each system, but struggling to find updates points chart charts for each.

My thought is to find at similar locations and type of resort, use that as a basis for what point value is, and thus value for money. Is that a reasonable philosophy?

Its a little dated, but this is the closest thing to what you are asking.

Similiar locations by various companies too much work to likely tackle that here without a request.

If you buy a resale, Hilton Grand Vacation ( not Hilton vacations- ie Diamond) is the only company which give resale buyers the best deals.

From what I understand, Wyndham provides resale buyers about the same. They have full access to the points system just like Hilton resales do. Wyndham just doesn't offer VIP to resale. Does Hilton have an equivalent? Also, as long as you pay the junk feed with Marriott, their point system is also the same resale vs developer

Question for you: Are you likely to go primarily to a single resort or do you want to be able to go to a lot of locations?

Wyndham has the most resorts in the most locations. Hilton and Marriott have fewer resorts and they tend to be concentrated in a few locations.

The ability to trade into RCI or II makes the question a little less important.

I’d do this differently.

The first question is do you want (and are you willing to pay for) luxury? Or are you more interested in saving a few dollars in exchange for resorts that are still very nice, but not as high end?

If you lean towards luxury, I'd encourage you to consider Marriott and Hilton. Hilton is probably a better value, but only if their resort locations work for you--Hilton tends to cluster resorts in a smaller number of locaitons. If you want more diversity in possible destinations, Marriott is a better option, but it will probably be more expensive.

If you would rather go 3-4 star than 4-5 star (and save a few dollars in the process), Wyndham is a great choice, especially for people who live east of the Mississippi. For those west of there, WorldMark is also worth considering.

Thinking variety, we've been able to borrow a family member's timeshare (a week at Bali Hai on Kauai) that trades into RCI in the past and found that to provide a good extension of options.

I know its not perfect value but the ability to trade into points for hotels in Marriott or Hilton's profile also has appeal if we want to travel to places without a ton of resorts. All three I assume one can rent out points that can use points in years we might be interested in other travel?

A big issue for us was trying to find an up to date Hilton points chart to figure out what amount of points would be needed for weeks in places we might be interested, v. Marriott and Wyndham that being decently easy for find online.

Just a note: for Hilton Grand Vacations, that chart was before the across-the-board 1.6X point adjustment done a little over a year ago. It says the typical 2BR is 7000 points, now it is 11,200 points (7000 x 1.6).

I know this is an older thread, but has anyone done a like for like comparison in RCI to see what kind of "exchange rate" they use between brands? Not being an RCI member, I can't log in, but I undrestand that RCI shows everything in a users "home currency", so someone that owns different brands should be able to look at a hotel outside of their program from their different programs and see how the points for a room differs from the different brands.

Marriott's 2025 Maintenance Fees for Abound Points have recently been billed, and reported to TUG at this link.

The Points Charts showing how many points are required for a stay based on resort, dates and unit sizes/views are hosted by TUGger @StevenTing at his vacationpointexchange.com site.

The TUG FAQ for the Marriott Abound Points system is linked in my signature, below.

There are several Marriott forum posters who are better able than me to compare/contrast the type of info that's being asked for here, or included in the chart linked in Post #2 above - I'll put a blurb in that forum asking them to visit this thread. :)
