I could use some help understanding an offer for a HGVC package.

I didn't want a hotel stay but was offered a 1 bedroom stay for an extra $100 per night.

There were four places offered.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort (edit - This may actually be Hilton Waikiki Beach Resort which I believe is not in Hilton Hawaiian Village)
Modern Honolulu
Hilton Alana
Hilton Garden Inn

Does anyone have experience with where we would end up staying if we were to purchase the package. I was told that I would have a one bedroom in Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort which appears to be a hotel not a timeshare. The only one in this list that I thought was a timeshare is the Modern Honolulu.

I think that these are all hotels. None of these are HGVC resorts. For sure, the Hilton Garden Inn is a hotel, and Hilton Alana looks like a Hilton DoubleTree. Modern Honolulu is a hotel, with some rooms being converted to Hilton Vacation Club. When I searched Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, the Rainbow Tower (hotel) showed up. If you wanted to stay in a HGVC resort, this won't get you there. Typically for the HGVC 5-night getaways, you don't stay in an HGVC resort, you stay in a nearby hotel.

Tell me what you mean by this. Extra on top of what?
I will tell you that Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort may well be the Tapa Tower, right in the middle of things. Of course, they are giving themselves all the flexibility, so glwt. What level of HHonors are you? That may decide what you get.
What caused you to get this offer? Could be a clue there too.

I think this is an HGV Marketing package where you get nights at a discounted rate in exchange for attending a presentation. These are most often at a HGV Timeshare location, but they also use regular hotel inventory in some places. We had a package for Vegas, and they kept trying to put us up in a Hampton Inn a few miles from the Strip.

If this is an HGV package, your Honors status will not matter.

Right. That is what I figured, so paying "extra" for a 1 bdrm in a hotel vs a TS confused me. I just re-read it. Maybe now I get it. Orig offer was in a hotel, which would not be a 1 bdrm. Upgrade offer was a 1bdrm, which (I guess?) would be in a TS. End of day: big diff between staying in Tapa Tower vs Garden Inn, implies the upgrade worth it, but the wording still isn't clear. were those 4 offered in the original offer or are those the 1 bdrms?
If the 1 bdrm is in Lagoon vs a std hotel rm in Garden Inn, easy upgrade.

Yeah, I figured that after I wrote the other thing, except it might if they DO put you in a Hilton Hotel. You are standing there at the check-in of a Hilton Hotel. Are you sure Hilton will not honor "status" stuff because you were sent there by HGV?

I have been offered an upgrade for a fee on the marketing packages before, so that is possible. Not sure about these hotels, but its possible the One Bedroom is really just a hotel suite, i.e. bedroom and sitting room, but still no kitchen. Or it might be moved back into a HGV timeshare unit.

I am certain this would be booked at the bulk rate, much like if you book via expedia, priceline etc, so technically no honors benefits. Of course you might get luck and score a better room, but no points or elite night credit for sure.

The offer was received after I booked a reservation for Italy directly with Hilton over the phone. I was transfered to the HGVC team. The original offer was a 4 or 5 night stay in places like Orlando, Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach with a 2 hour timeshare presentation. I suggested Hawaii. However, the original offer was a hotel room. I knew about the potential for an upgrade so I asked and was offered an upgrade for $100 per night. I think the upgrade was probably for Modern since they have one bedroom suites but I really don't know. The rep didn't know either. I didn't accept the offer since I wasn't sure what I was actually purchasing and have alternatives since we a Marriott Vacation Club owners.

This was a very wise decision for all the correct reasons. I am fairly certain that you would have ended up in a hotel room, maybe upgraded to a 1BR unit (w/o kitchen), if you had paid extra.
