Hi!

Not around very often, so I may be missing something.

I just got a hit on one of my “resort watch” listings. The one I was looking at was for the Tortuga Club in Sanibel. That was fine but, as I scrolled down the list of other units, I noticed a large number of “HGVC, former Diamond” listings or listings for large numbers of annual points (clearly, former Diamond properties). My impression is that these points are not equivalent or transferable, i.e., you can’t use HVC points in the HGVC system.

Am I missing something, am I mistaken, or are people trying to get something by obscuring the issue (either inadvertantly or by design). If the latter, be careful and do your due diligence.

Ciao!

Tom

A The Club with HGV Max owner can use their points to book in HGVC within the 6 month Max reservation window and vice versa for a HGVClub with HGV Max owner

Thanks for the update/clarification.

But, if they aren't in Max, they can't. There is an exceptions for the HGVC owners who own in properties that can join DEX though.

And, to add, selling resale Diamond weeks, won't be in Max, so those will not give you the option to use in HGVC.

Not that it affects me directly, but...

Are you saying that someone who is a The Club with HGV Max owner who then buys a resale week at (say) the Point at Poipu would or wouldn't be able to use the Hawaiian Collection points that week can generate to book HGVC at 6 months? (And would it matter if their existing HVC Max'd points are Hawaiian Collection or not?)

What website are you seeing this one? TUG Marketplace or Redweek?

The Club owners can correct me, but my understanding is that resale points in The Club are only usable in their collection...and considered dirty points. They would need to buy retail points to "clean" them and then they would be useable across The Club..and, I assume, in the 6 month Max window if they are a Max member...but a DRI owner can probably clarify.
