We booked two weeks of extra vacation through RCI to Orbit One Vacation Villas in Kissimmee, and were shocked at check-in to be charged almost $400 in resort fees for our stay. Apparently missed the fine print which shows $25 per unit per night. With tax that comes to $28. Is this typical of Hilton resorts? I've never paid resort fees that high -seems exorbitant.

The tax isn't typical, but HVC/DRI resorts have charged resort fees for a while when you book through RCI or II.

This should probably be in the Hilton Vacation Club forum, not HGVC.

It just depends on the property but Orbit One Vacation Villas isn't a HGVC property...so maybe one of the Diamond resort properties.

Key with RCI, always look at the fees section.

Is it really SO hard for people to figure out what forum their topic belongs in?
Is it really SO hard for people to figure out how to incl REAL info in their title?
What in the world does OOVV have to do with HGVC?

Use RCI; deal with all of RCI's nickel & diming & dollaring & 25-dollaring & 40-dollaring & ...
RCI gave me a free membership. Now why would they do that?

The two go hand in hand. Orbit One is a Diamond Resort property. I don't think it has been rebranded to Hilton Vacation Club. Then you have the whole Hilton Vacation Club/Hilton Grand Vacations Club confusion, mostly done by design by Hilton Grand Vacations.

For those who don't own in the Hilton family, it is hard to keep track of which group a resort belongs to or the fact that there is more than one to begin with. If you go to the Hilton website, it is not really clear either. In fact, you will see resorts that are not even owned by Hilton at all on the website .
As @dioxide45 mentioned, Hilton is not making any attempts to help the the public clearly identify which is which likely on purpose.

Does anyone know if these resorts in the Hilton/Diamond system waive these fees for owners in the system when exchanging in through ii or rci?

Not if they are listed as fees in the HGV version of RCI. Remember, the RCI version that you connect to via HGV, is different than they generic version that you can just join outside HGV.

They do not. They do not pay if they book with points internally or through max or dex or whatever they call their system. They do charge it for II and RCI exchanges. They specifically want to discourage RCI and II exchanges and encourage keeping the exchanges inhouse.

I agree with that, and yet, most of the people come here to post non-HGVC things in the HGVC forum. It is lazy. The headlines are lazy also. Well, look here, it is as if this doesn't exist

Well I do apologize for getting the acronyms confused - it's not lazy, just unclear. Please forgive me for trespassing in this group. I'm not a Hilton owner, and was just asking about the extremely high resort fees. If this is typical, then I'll happily stay away from these resorts in the future. I did overlook the fine print on the RCI website (again, mea culpa) but that's my fault. It was just the amount I was wondering about. I've never paid a resort fee that high before. If Hilton wants to discourage RCI exchanges, I'll happily cooperate.

I apologize for confusing the acronyms - it was not intentional, or lazy as one person seems to think. Just unclear as to which is which, that's all. All I was asking about was whether this high a resort fee is typical. Yes, I've paid resort fees other places, but nothing like $28 per day. For a two week stay, this was $392. I'm not a Hilton owner so didn't know the difference between Hilton Vacation Club, or HGVC or whatever. I only know that Orbit One showed up on the Hilton Grand Vacations Resorts website, so I thought I was in the right place. Sorry if I offended anyone. I still don't know whether this fee is unusually high though.

For the purpose of this thread though many HGVC AND HVC resorts charge resort fees to those that exchange through RCI (and II for HVC). So yes, it is fairly typical of Hilton Resorts to charge these fees (and it is now bleeding into Bluegreen too) to those that exchange in.
