Good afternoon everyone,
So I have been thinking about purchasing my first TS but I have been stuck between the type of TS I want to purchase. I am looking to explore more and not limit myself to one location which is why I want to go with HGVC. Now I have been debating between two properties. One would be Craig Lodges in Scotland 11200 Platinum points for $900 MF (roughly .08/pt). Second option would be Residencies by Hilton in NY for 16800 Platinum points for $2000 MF (roughly .12/pt). Only reason I am looking at Residencies is because I travel to NY fairly often but probably not as much in the future. I would like to hear your opinions on which would be best to go with. I also want to add, if I am looking for last minute weekend getaways, is a TS worth it or would it be better to skip the TS in general and stick to hotels.

I would go with Craig. It gives you access to all of HGVC and HC using points, the Craig week, RCI, DEX, option to trade in II, and lower MFs.

If you are looking for last minute weekend getaways, I’m not sure timeshares are right for you. Most of the most desirable resorts are booked around 9 months. You might get Orlando or Vegas studios last minute, but that’s still is a stretch unless you are looking at the low season.

If you are looking for NYC last minute I would consider Hilton Club NYC as those are only open to those who own there.

skip because TS will not be a fit for you. In the HGVC system, you must be able/willing to book when the club season opens (usually at 9 month mark) for the best availability. After that you will be looking at the leftovers and some places (such as Ocean Oak on HHI) you will never be able to book after the club season window opens.
