Why does a platimum 4800 point package sell for more than an 5000 point gold package. I thought that points were points. Is there an advantage for having a platinum season?
Thanks, Rod

Although I'm no HGVC expert, it's my understanding that the platinum 4800 point package is for a 1 bedroom in prime season, while a gold 5000 point package is for a 2 bedroom in shoulder season. The maintenance fees for a 1 bedroom are less than for the 2 bedroom. Thus, the lower maintenance fees make the 4800 package more attactive for many. I'm sure if there are other factors, or I've got this wrong, others will chime in.

Also, I believe that if you own platinum season you can book 12 months out at your home resort for that season. If you own gold season (5,000 point 2 bedroom unit) you must wait until 9 months from your desired travel date to book a one bedroom during platinum season. Not that I've ever had a problem only booking 9 months out but, if you require a specific week that is very popular, you might be out of luck with a gold week trying to book that very popular week in platinum season.

Actually, it is 12 months advance for the home resort where you own, regardless of season. It is 9 months out for exchanging to other HGVC resorts; again, regardless of season.

Last I heard, this is not true.
The 12 month advantage is ONLY if you book your home resort and home season.
