We just attended the presentation at Parc Soleil this weekend and stayed at Tuscany Vill, Orlando.
This was our first HGVC and I really liked the point scheme compared to earlier TS deals we had attended. Since we had decided not to buy anyway and the sales person was not very pushy we were out in 1h 15min.
Now I am doing some research on HGVC, I ran into TUG and the huge amount of info here. Really excited and looking to buy from resales after gaining some more knowledge. I am going thru the stickys and advice articles which will take some time but anyone with pointers for new buyers please chime in. For now I am concentrating on HGVC since I like the group generally and have some basic knowledge of their TS options.

Excellent! Welcome to TUG! As you look around and learn, consider become a member and supporting the community.

What specific questions do you have as of now based on your reading of the stickies or your sales presentation which likely includes lies and/or exaggerated comments?

Welcome. The stickys are helpful. I agree HGV is a good system overall, and in terms of deed longevity and minimal hassle, I think it is likely to be one that sticks around in its current form the longest, now that the timeshare industry has entered the consolidation phase.

Resale will save you about 2/3 of the retail prices, which are absurd. HGVC treats resale buyers well. Sales-weasels may try to scare you into believing that HGVC restricts resale benefits, but in truth, resale buyers get eggsactly the same benefits are retail buyers - except only, counting for elite status and entry into HGVC-Max. The consensus seems to be that neither of these are worth the retail expense.

HGVC is itself a standup company and very consumer friendly. It's so flexible, that it's confusing at first. You need to read "The Rules" at least 3-4 times (and book 3-4 stays) to grasp how it functions. But do not let that dissuade you. I've been a resale owner since 2007 and have enjoyed every year of it.

Welcome to TUG! We are full resale owners and first purchased in 2018. I think you are going about this the correct way. Take your time, get to know the information and target a set of properties that suit what you need. Not every owner has the same needs so there really isn't a one size fits all. Most people will want a platinum deed with a great point to MF ratio (usually a 2 bedroom) but there are those that make use of the home week reservations at hard to book resorts or can fin decent gold deeds at very low prices.

I concur with what is said above. HGVC is a great system that treats all of it's owners well. Most people who are unhappy with the system either bought a high priced low point deed or try to use the system like hotels (booking close to the arrival date). The resorts are fantastic and the service has been great as well. As long as you stay away from sales, you will enjoy your ownership!

Take a look at the locations of the HGVC resorts along with other clubs to see which has the locations that best fit your needs. HGVC acquired the Diamond group, but you have to spend some retail dollars to access both sets of resorts
