Hi all, we're relatively new HGVC timeshare owners. We're looking at buying an odd year timeshare and we're a little confused as to how we could use it to book 12 months out during Home week. Can we use 2025 years points to book 12 months out (therefore securing a reservation in 2026). Does it actually work for owning biennial timeshare? Thanks so much in advance.

No, if you own odd year timeshare, then you can only book a 2025 Home Week. You can do it at any time starting one year in advance of the check in date, so you can book in 2024 for a 2025 Home Week. In you want 2026, then it's going to be a club booking with points, not a Home Week.

Thanks echino. Just confirming that I would be able to book a 2025 home week 12 months out (eg. in 2024), even though my HGVC a/c will not show that I own any points in 2024?

The reservation system is smart enough to know it needs to use points from the year of the dates you are reserving.

Which resort and unit and season are you looking to purchase?
We are looking at a Gold season biennial timeshare at Lagoon Tower. We live in Australia, and it suits us best to travel to Hawaii in May or Sept/Oct which is gold season. I would prefer an annual timeshare, however, they seem to be alot more expensive.

HW reservations are very restrictive, Per the rules:

Home Week Reservations. If a Club Member reserves their Home Week, all ClubPoints assigned to the Member’s
account for that Home Week for that calendar year will be used. Club Members relinquish their priority right to reserve
their Home Week whenever they fail to specifically reserve their Home Week during the Home Week Reservation Window
or make any use of the ClubPoints attributable to their Home Week for that calendar year for any purpose other than a Home
Week reservation. Also, whenever a Club Member borrows any ClubPoints from the next calendar year for use in the
current year, his Home Week priority rights for the next calendar year will automatically be relinquished.

Home Week reservations are consecutive night reservations at the Home Resort in the season
and unit type owned, for the number of days owned, checking in on the resort’s standard or
available check-in day (“Home Week”). Members have a priority reservation period to reserve their
Home Week during the “Home Week Priority Reservation Window” without competing for such
reservation with other Members other than those owning the same suite configuration and season
at the same resort. This window lasts approximately 90 days beginning one year (365 days) prior
to the desired check-in date and ending nine months (276 days) in advance of the desired check-
in date.

Reservations may only be made during the Home Week Priority Reservation Window using the
current-year ClubPoints associated with the specific ownership interest. When a Home Week
reservation is confirmed, the entire annual allotment of ClubPoints assigned to the Member for that
ownership interest is used. Home Week Priority Reservation Windows may be extended during the
first year that a resort is available for occupancy through HGVClub.
