HGVC Customer Service told me I can cancel my bonus points and rebook with no fees or penalty. Is this true?

I was asking her a lot of questions about using my bonus points. She said because I am an HGVMAX member, I do not have any fees for using them.

She said I have to book a minimum of three nights, I cannot extend or modify and existing reservation, but she did say that I could cancel and quickly rebook a new one with an additional day.

So for example if the 12th - 15th are some of the days I want from the 12th - 26th, but the 15th is the latest day I can book, I could book the 12th - 15th, and then as soon as the 16th is available, cancel the 12th - 15th and book the 12th - 16th. I guess this is one way to increase the reservation with the risk that while I am in the process of cancelling and rebooking, someone else could grab it. I was thinking that at least for the first week, I would have enough points to double book with the new day before releasing the previous day version, but eventually I would be forced to do the release and rebook method. :/

I would suggest that you have a CSR cancel and rebook since they can do it much faster.

Wow. You finally called HGVC. You should have done that weeks ago. And now you don't believe them? Wow.
They are YOUR bonus pts. THey may have come with certain restrictions at the time that are different than other bonus pts. As I said before, multiple other highly-experienced people have written that the only way to really see what you can and cannot do is to call HGVC and then DO IT!
Of course, others have written that they could not get HHV with their BPs. I guess you can get G Islander. Not too surprising since GI & GW cost so much more per night that they show up on the seasonal sales, so, yes, there is availability that HGV wants to fill.

I have been misinformed by HGVC multiple times, so yes, I want to see what folks in here say about what I was told.

That was my plan if I do the hopping method, so they can do it really fast before someone grabs them.

The lady from HGVC did not say anything about not being able to use my points for the HGVC towers at HHV. Is that an issue?

The problem is that one CSR can give you bad information and when you call back to actually do it, then you might get a different answer. Customer service is highly unreliable these days. Though it is possible that the rules for Bonus Points is different under Max.

others have said availability is an issue in HHV, not that it is verboten, though it is up to HGVC to define the difference behind the curtain.

Yes. Until you actually do it and see if you can UNDO it & at what cost, it is all paralysis by analysis, though it isn't even analysis.
When the rubber meets the road, you'll know ...

I will honestly be glad when I finally use the bonus points and never have to think about them again, lol.
