I read on another Tug thread that RCI car rentals can offer good pricing relative to the usual outlets.

When I called HGVC/RCI today I learned that HGVC portal does not have access to RCI car rentals. However there is an "HGVC car rental agency" in Hawaii. 855-256-3922

Has anyone reserved car rentals via this outlet with better pricing than the usual companies?

Thanks for the code!
Depending on the car selected, I saw a discount of about $50. No bad...

BUT- did the cost go up this year, by about 100%???

Last July we paid $342 for 13 days, now, for our 14 day stay, I see nothing (Compact class or larger) below $650! And this is the a rental away from HNL (e.g. Hertz at the Ilikai Hotel next door), which we will do for the first time. HNL rental fees would be STARTING at $850...

Or did I misplaced my pineapples and I am not looking at the right web sites?

Hawaii car rentals are atrocious.

The HGVC CDP is supposed to give you a free car seat with Hertz.

I have AAA, so I get free car seat, free second driver, and like 15-20% discount on weekly rentals.

When I rented on Maui, I used SFX as it was about $100 cheaper than the "cheaphawaii rentals.com" or whatever, but I did the drop off location at the smaller airport, not OGG.

On BI, Hertz had the best pricing directly with my AAA discount and prepaid.

I wanna say that each rental for a week was close to $300
Ouch.

But that was slightly below the average I was seeing on Trip Advisor (from other folks renting at the same time period).
BTW, we went in first part of Feb which is prime whale watching season so that may be why.

Just checked AAA- and it offers a better rate than the rates displayed when entered with a Hertz Gold Plus number.
Yes, the "new normal" seems to be a $300 per week fee- at least for the July time frame, which is also peak travel time...
Its interesting to note that there is only a roughly $60 difference between the Hertz pick-up at HNL or the Ilikai Hotel. Over a 14 day span that fee is insignificant...

Don't forget to also use eBates, Mrrebates, befrugal, topcashback sites to get more goodies.

I got my "new" account on Mrrebates ($5) plus like 3% back on the rental, so it was like almost $20.
