I am making my first reservation with HGVC. Can you tell me what the cancellation protection fee covers? Is it worth it? Are there things not covered under the policy? Thanks! Katherine

If you cancel 60 days or less, you get you points back. You still lose the reservation fee.

If your stay involves a modest number of points, and
you're OK being locked-in at the 60-days, then skip it.

OTOH, your booking involves a ton of points, and
your plans may change LT 60 days out, then get it.

I typically get the protection, as i have an elderly mother and sometimes my plans change unpredictably. I have actually used the protection a few times when HGV puts resorts on sale for fewer club points, and rebooked my reservation to use fewer points. Obviously then you need to decide if number of points you will get back is worth the extra reservation fee.
