My friend went to HGV presentation at Waikīkī yesterday. She was offered 6,500 points EOY for $15K. Supposedly a 10 years term. As incentives, she gets one-time 38,000 points, enough to book Australia for 3 weeks according to the salesperson. Maintenance Fee is $1168.
What puzzles me is the 38,000 points for incentive, that’s almost 11.69 times 3,250 (half of 6,500 points EOY). Also, HGV is offering 10 years term?
I appreciate if any HGV owners have any insight on this? Is Australia easy to book with HGV bonus points?
 
what is buyout offer at 10 years if they want to keep? also is $1168 the amount they pay EY or EOY?

They are giving lots of bonus points right now I've heard-- it doesn't cost them much and they figure most people won't use all of them
