Help PLEASE!! We are strongly regretting a decision to buy because we cant make sense of the money we spent for a Westin Vistana Flex Maui timeshare we just purchased (May 2023). Can you suggest how and where I can learn how to cancel the timeshare myself? TIA!!

It seems you are way past the revision period. Your options may be limited
In any regard, you should start a new thread with this issue. You may not get the advice you need posting in this tangentially related thread.

Why did you suddenly regret buying your timeshare?

I'm assuming you made the purchase with a large loan attached to it. You won't be able to cancel the Timeshare at this point, however you likely could rent it out for a potential profit each year.

Once you get your loan paid off you should be able to easily find a resale buyer for your week.

You could default (which I don't recommend) as that "could" affect your credit.

Also, DO NOT approach an upfront fee exit company as they will do NOTHING but steal your money (yes, a scam).

Best of luck!

There has to be somewhere I can hire a lawyer to help me. I spoke with Finn Law group in Florida. It would literally take 16 years to just break even on just the money spent on the timeshare mortgage. That is not including the Maintnance fees.

How is an attorney going to help you? Finn Law Group is a timeshare exit company. They aren't able to help you and will charge you thousands if not more than $10,000 to "cancel" your timeshare. All they will have you do is stop paying and tell you to send all correspondence to them. They don't do anything and you will go into default on the timeshare. Then at some point a lien will be filed and foreclosure will happen. Woohoo, you are out of your timeshare. You could do that for free. Many timeshares have a long break even point. 16 years actually isn't that bad for a timeshare bought directly from the developer.

First of all - we hear this story every day, so we are very familar with they situation you are in. You signed a legally binding contract and there is no easy way out of a contract.

• Anyone who tells you they can get you out of the contract, is just going to steal more money from you.

• If the payments are going to ruin you financially, you should consider defaulting on the loan, as stated above.

• If you already have serious financial problems, and you are already underwater, then declaring bankruptcy may be something to consider.

* It sounds like you should consult with a REPUTABLE local attorney or financial advisor in your area, who can review your situation with you, and clarify your options.

Well, I went and read other reviews. It seems like my place could be canceled because they do not do a deed in lieu. A few other folks had good reviews on Reddit. It seems they won't even take your money if they don't think they can help you, so I gave it a chance. So today, it looks like after signing a few documents, I am, in fact, done.

As I always say, it can't hurt to pick up the phone and try. I hoped it would be done sooner, but it should be finalized in a few more days. Everyone was so negative without experience, calling some folks scams. Well, when you DYOR and it looks not like a scam, you have to give it a try. I just hated paying for this thing. I get no money back, but they will never get a penny more.

I guarantee they always "think they can help you" (at least that's what they'll tell you) and they will always take your money. That's a great line for the gullible.
