Help with last minute Cabo decision

We have decided to attend a friend's wedding in Cabo in a couple of weeks. There are good choices available for RCI exchanges but I'm not familiar with the area so I don't know which one to pick.

Here's our criteria:

1. We do not want to rent a car.

2. We would like to be within walking distance of town or at least a few stores where we can buy groceries.

3. We don't swim at the beach but do like to have a nice beach on-site/nearby for lounging, reading, relaxing.

4. We would LOVE to have an ocean view balcony.

5. Probably won't do much in the way of sightseeing so we want a nice resort to just hang out for a few days before the wedding activities begin.

6. Would like to be reasonably close to where the other wedding guests are staying (walking distance or an inexpensive cab ride away). The majority of the people will be at the Fiesta Americana (which is also where the reception will be held).

7. The wedding itself is in San Jose del Cabo with the rehearsal dinner at the Casa Del Mar Resort. We can probably share a taxi with other guests who are staying at the Fiesta Americana for these events.

Here are the TS choices. ALL are STUDIO size units. They are all gold crown and seem to have good reviews both in TUGS and Trip Advisor.

2. Pueblo Bonito Rose

3. Pueblo Bonito Resort Los Cabos

4. Hacienda Del Mar

5. Marina Fiesta

So which one should I pick???

Cabo resorts

Hacienda del Mar is close to the Fiesta America however that is out on the corridor. I myself prefer PB Sunset Beach and if you wish to go to town you can catch the free shuttle down to Rose or you can stay at the Rose or Blanco. They are nice resorts as well, just older and have a little more activity than Sunset Beach.

2. We would like to be within walking distance of town or at least a few stores where we can buy groceries. All your choices meet this criteria except Hacienda del Mar & Sunset Beach. They have onsite small stores though.

3. We don't swim at the beach but do like to have a nice beach on-site/nearby for lounging, reading, relaxing. All are on or near a beach. Can't swim at Sunset Beach and maybe not at Hacienda del Mar because of dangerous waves.

4. We would LOVE to have an ocean view balcony.Possible at all except Marina Fiesta.

The reason I'd pick all the above choices before Hacienda Del Mar is that you can easily walk to town and the beach is safe and swimmable. PB Sunset would require a free shuttle to the PB Rose to get to the beach and town. The reason I'd pick them over Hacienda Del Mar is that the majority of your time will be spent relaxing before the wedding. A small percentage of your time would be at the wedding and rehearsal dinner. Having a car to use to get to all the wedding festivities would make it much simpler and probably less expensive than taking a taxi. You might even consider renting the car just for the couple of days for the wedding and rehearsal. You could arrange for the rental at the PB resorts or Marina Fiesta.

But, if you decide to stay at Hacienda del Mar, I'm sure you'll have a great time, too, if you want to hang out with the other wedding guests. It should be fun anywhere you stay in Cabo!

Thanks for the great info! I'm now leaning towards Sunset Beach. I did look into getting a car just for the days that we'll be doing wedding activities and it does seem less expensive than taking taxis.

Also a 1BR just popped up for Sunset Beach so I've put that on hold. It sounds like that would be much nicer than a studio which is all that is available at the other resorts.

Does anyone have a resort map for the Sunset Beach so I could see the layout of the buildings? Several reviews mention specific villa numbers so I'd love to know where things are located.

While trying to find a map of the resort (which I unfortunately couldn't locate) I did find this site which has a lot of photos that you may not have seen yet. On this site it describes the one bedroom as having a king sized bed. When we stayed there in a one bedroom we had two queen sized beds, so you may or may not get a king.

I think you are going to love the one bedroom unit at PB Sunset Beach. It is quite spacious, has two full bathrooms, and beautiful decor. You made a good choice!

You should have an ocean view from any unit, but depending on how busy they are when you check in, just ask if you could see the available one-bedrooms and pick the one you like best. They are normally very accomodating.

Let us know how your trip turned out when you get back.

Marina Fiesta

We own at Marina Fiesta and I can say I love the location. True, not ocean view but oh-so-close to the beach.
