My DD and future SIL will be getting married next September. Great news, but here's my dilemna. I asked SIL-2B where they wanted to go on a honeymoon, that I could use my T/s to send them. Of course, they want hawaii.

Now, normally, that wouldn't be a problem, cuz we own in Hawaii and I could ARP. But I didn't think I would use all of my 2009 points, so I booked a Feb week at the Elysian Beach. Actually I booked 2 weeks, thinking I could rent them out. Now, cancelling them makes them cancelled reservation points, and I can't use them for RARP. I did check with WW, and there is availability at 10 months out from today. Since WW bought the Pahios, there aren't as many nightly stays available, so I am more limited there (and anyway, who wants to spend over 200K points for the same thing we used to get for 105K?)

So I need advice. DO I wait till 10 months out to the day, and hope there is still something there? Or do I rent points from someone other then WW? What is the going rate to rent points? Can rented points really be used to RARP? And are there costs other than the rental amount to get the points in my account.

I know some of you WW experts can answer this for me. Usually I pride myself on knowing most of the ins and outs of WW. But this time I think I really cooked my own goose by being too crafty. Oh, well.

Call Wyndham and tell them your dilemna...and sometime, just sometimes the right Customer Service Rep will change the points to regular points for you. They have done this for me several times in the past.

Yes, call ... I was "asked" both times by each VC if I maded an "error" when booking. Something like "You maded an 'error' when you booked? Right, an error?" I said "yes, I made an error".;) ;)

Then you can rebook - I did, right then and there -- changing dates, resorts, using ARP, etc. Both times.

Also, one VC had to change which points I used to book earlier reservations to reclaim my ARP priority points, so I could get the APR reservation. A third time ...

Thanks for the suggestions. This sounds like a challenge I can get my head around. Maybe I'll start by cancelling my Elysian week, and see what happens.

I think you can wait till 10 month. I also think you can wait RCI deposit. On the other hand, with Honeymoon gift, I will use Wyndham internal reservation which I can get better control of the unit quality.
