My husband's Delta miles expire on 11/30 and I need a quick way to add some other than buying directly from Delta. Thanks guys I know you will have good suggestions for me.

Sandy

Do they have an affiliated website where you can buy something small and get miles for it?

Delta does have a shopping portal, but miles may not post in time. I don't know if Delta has a dining program like United, but those miles usually post in a couple of weeks. However, I think the only sure way to get account activity by the end of the month is to buy the smallest amount of miles.

Go to www.skymilesshopping.com and buy something. I can't tell you how fast the miles post--it depends on the merchant. But there are many shops that you can buy something for very little money (itunes, for example). And hope that the miles will post in time.

But at this late date the dining program is probably your best bet. My AA dines usually post in about a week and I imagine Delta dines would be the same, since it is run by same outfit.

How about applying for a new credit card? Apply for the one with no fees the first year and then cancel it before you need to renew or just apply for the standard one that has no fee ever.

IME, the vendor that posts the quickest is FTD. For example, for flowers shipped on 3/19, the miles posted on 4/2. That's about as quick as you're going to get.

Shipping charges are astronomical but you can get 25 SkyMiles per $ spent if you use this link:

This is something you need to think about farther in advance. Delta is one of the most prolific programs in having all sorts of ways to get bonus miles, but they take time to post.

A good source for ways to get miles is www.freefrequentflyermiles.com

One way to get free miles is with the milage awards at Club Bing at www.clubbing.com While you can get Delta miles there, you can also get much more valuable American miles, as well, which is a better option.

The miles definitely won't post in time.

I signed up on-line for the Delta Skymiles Dining program a few years ago, and linked it to an Amercan Express card that I seldom use. I just about forgot about it.

While vacationing in Newport, Rhode Island this past August, I purchased a couple of restaurant.com coupons, on-line, for local restaurants. I ordered them via my laptop and had to pop into the public library, enroute to the restaurant, to print them out. We used one for dinner for 3 at a wonderful very popular Mexican restaurant. The tab came to about $25. net after the $25. restaurant.com coupon deduction. I inadvertently paid with the seldom used American Express credit card. We had enough leftovers for another meal at the timeshare.

I was so surprised to receive an Email a few days later stating that we had earned triple Delta Skymiles for dining at this restaurant. It was posted to my Delta account within two days.

I recently received a phone call from American Airlines reminding me that I had 44,000 miles that would expire in two weeks if I failed to make a transaction. The CSR was very nice and helpful. She said that I could pay an instant $25.fee which would post right away and extend my miles for, I think, 3 years (maybe 2?). But she also told me that I could go to their website and make a donation of $10. or more to one of the several charities listed. She wasn't sure if it would post in time to save my miles. But she suggested that I might want to make the donation and check back to see if it was in my account on time. Otherwise I could call right up until the expiration date and pay the $25. extension fee. I made the donation and it was recorded in time.

I was quite impressed by the fact that AA actually cared enough to notify me, rather than saving some revenue by letting the miles expire.

Right now they are having a promotion if you buy, gift or transfer miles they bonus you 50 percent. There is a $30? fee to transfer I think it is but the miles are a $.01 each minimum a 1,000 to transfer and to buy or gift it at .02 something like that but by transfering to say your account you get 50 percent more and it posts almost immediately.
