Cancelling an Exchange Request

When I have cancelled, I have called the exchange company ( RCI, DAE, or whoever) and arranged the cancellation. If the exchange has been confirmed, you will be charged a rather stiff fee to cancel.

In my experience last month, I could not cancel my Interval International exchange on the website. Had to call in to cancel and do so within 24 hours to avoid the fees. Apparently, this policy is designed to generate additional fee income for II.

Right, you have to telephone. You can't do it online. I went through this with II a few months ago. After calling, BE SURE that you check your history to see that the cancellation went through. Also, be aware that your deposit might have reverted to a flex deposit - BE SURE to check online to ensure that that didn't happen.

I know I sound more than a bit paranoid, but II has messed up our exchanges several times - more than just the one I posted earlier today. Usually everything goes well, but not always!

And rest assured if you have more than one pending request they will cancel the wrong one and keep you on the phone for half an hour while they try to put it back.

And when they do put it back, you'll be at the end of the line, because they claim there's no way they can give you back whatever priority you might have had by putting in an early request.
