I would love to have one of these for my home. Has anyone here purchased one (either the full set including mattress and boxspring, or just the bedding)? If so, how hard is it to keep clean and press?

They look so pretty and are so amazingly comfortable, but I have to remind myself the hotels have extensive laundry and housekeeping facilities/staff to keep them looking so great!

Thanks,
Pam

I have a King size heavenly mattress set. Shipping was from Ohahu and the price was competitive. Shipping on the sheets, etc was prohibitively expensive to the islands. You can just pair it with a nice high quality high thread count set of sheets, pillow cases, duvet set, etc, and pick up whatever matching set of extras you want. As long as you get the high quality stuff (which is worth it, IMO), there's not that much difference unless you want the Westin look.

The sheets, etc, sold at the Westin and W Stores are not identical to the ones used in the hotels. I'm pretty sure the ones they sell are permanent press and are decent, but check the website to make sure.

I noticed that Macy's had a nice "Hotel" line of sheets, etc that looked nice, with high thread counts, but of course, Macy's is expensive.

So is it the mattress or the bedding that makes it so heavenly?

Currently I have a queen bed frame with pillow top mattress. I was actually considering just buying the bedding and using my existing set-up for the rest. But if it's the mattress that makes the bed....well, now I have to rethink my strategy! Also, if I was spending that much on a bed, I was considering upgrading to a king anyway.

Both really, but you can reproduce their bedding by getting similar high quality stuff, including pillows and the bolster pillows. If you're happy with your current bed, just get some nice bedding, or try theirs if the price is right. I wouldn't buy the mattress set unless you need a new one or want to upgrade to the king set and stick the existing good mattress set in another room.

In my case, I needed a mattress set.

What about the W Signature bed? I like that one too. Some people like it better than the Heavenly Bed. Weekend stays at the W in Newark (CA) are pretty cheap if you want to try it.

There's a thread or two or three on the bedding at Flyertalk in the Starwood forum.

For one of my guest rooms I ordered the Heavenly Bed set, with sheets pillows etc. from Westin. The sheets came fromt the USA and took forever to get here. The bed came in less than a week because they are made in Canada near Toronto. Expensive - for sure. Everyone loves it but I find it a little too hard for my liking.

Westin is making a fortune on their bedding division - they even sell a heavenly doggie bed - and Marriott has now copied them with their own hotel line called 'Revive' bedding (same name as their spas). From my hotel stays, I find they are better for me than the Heavenly Bed and have just ordered a set from them for my 2nd guest room. Priced about the same. When I get it and experienced it I'll report back.

The Westin bed wasn't like the hotel beds which I guess have had a lot of wear and seem much softer that this one that's rarely used. The gal on Westin suggested I order the poly sheets the hotel uses, not the egyptian cotton which looks terrible after washing if you don't iron them, and she was right - they are quite carefree.

One futher thing...white is a problem. Marks show up all the time and don't come out. I have a dog, which complicates that problem even more.

I just stayed at the W New York and wasn't particularly impressed with the bed. Sure it was comfortable, but I have yet to sleep in a bed like the Heavenly. Even the Marriott beds, which I generally like, don't compare.

Per the catalog I have, a full King/Cal King ensemble is $3140 with cotton blend sheets, $3565 for 300 count Egyptian cotton. When I added up the individual items in the set, the cost was a couple hundred lower. Go figure.

I do think there's something to the mattress though. Theirs is so soft. I have a good pillow top mattress that feels nothing like this, even with high quality count sheets. So maybe it's a better idea to buy the mattress and the sheets separately. The advantage of not buying the Westin sheets is that I could get high quality sets in a variety of colors at lower prices. Then I won't worry about marking up the sheets.

Brian: How is the texture and softness of the poly sheets compared to high count Egyptian? I assume it would be scratchier, but sounds like it's worked well for you. I also don't want to spend my days washing and ironing to get my bedding to look just right, so lower maintenance works for me.

Thanks for the input from everyone!

Got the Heavenly bed.... AHHHHH

When it was time to get new mattresses, DH and I settled on the Heavenly Bed. After a week's stay at the Rancho Mirage Westin it was an easy decision. We have our own bedding we love, but did buy the pillows. So here's our experience.

Everytime we lay down we think, " AHHHHHH". The mattress comfort is truly wonderful. It works even with our own bedding. The pillows, we could do without. We like pillows a little more on the firm side, and these do not hold up well at all. So we highly recommend the mattresses (even the delivery guy said he owned a set). But would say find bedding you love and the pillows on your own. Good luck!

Nordstorm carries the bed as well. They had a sale in July on them. We bought it then. It isn't getting delivered until tomorrow. It costed less than our bed we bought 8 years ago. Anyways, I can't wait to get it. However, the sale doesn't happen again until July. I love the bedding at Westin's but I'm gonna buy my own because it doesn't go with my current room decor.

Westin warned me that it would take a few washings for my sheets to feel as soft as they do in the hotels (also the blend) but I find them 'crisp' but look and feel great. And they look nice without ironing ... unlike the very expensive Egyptian cotton sheets I also have (and hate) on another bed.

I can understand the wrinkling issue - I have a full set of high count Egyptian sheets that I bought years ago at a company called Earthsake. The sheets are soft and mellow after each washing, but the wrinkling is horrendous. I ironed them for the first few months but soon gave up.

Would a 2-3 inch down/feather topper replicate the mattress well enough? I'm thinking maybe I could do a "fake" version for now, with a new topper, pillows and sheet set for a fraction of the price.

My suggestion is that you go stay a night at a Marriott that has the new Revive bedding. I find they are wonderful .. and not as hard as the Heavenly Bed, mainly because they've got a 'featherbed' on top of the mattress. Whatever they've done, I love it...Marriott finally got it right.

At least it's worth a try ... and a few Marriott Reward points too. Both beds are priced about the same if you are buying retail.

One think I don't like about the 'hotel' Westins is that they don't use fitted sheets - I must be a restless sleeper as they are all over me in the morning when I wake up. Marriott uses fitted sheets...and when you buy Westin sheets retail they are fitted too. Why their hotels don't is a mystery to me.
