My husband and I are going to be in Destin starting the 18th for a week. We are staying at Wyndham Beach Street Cottages? Anyone have any pointers? restaurants that are great? Things to do or see?

We have been to Florida more times than I can count but have never spent time in the Destin area. We will be in Orlando with family for a few days before we drive tomDestin, so if there is something worth doing on the way please let me know!

Didn't know they had an Acme in Destin. It started in New Orleans and is legendary here. Go, it is wonderful. Their shrimp poboys are to die for.

I'm sure the original Acme in NOLA is great (which I expect to find out when I go there next May), but the one in Sandestin is pretty awful, IMHO. We've had family dine there a few times when we stay at the Club Intrawest and no one will ever go back.

I highly recommend Stinky's Fish Camp instead in Santa Rosa Beach, especially for oysters (and poboys).

Very sorry to hear that. Acme in N.O. is where many of us locals eat, and is one of the best. We try to find the local places wherever we go, but it is getting harder.
