Hello everyone,

I just attended a sales pitch at the Kona Hawaiian Resort.
Their sales pitch is this:

1-You rent a unit at any of 6 Hawaiian Wyndham Properties
2- You turn over this week to Premier Access (Trading Places) ( Membership paid by Wyndham)
3- Premier Access gives you 1 week + a 1 bonus week
4- Each of these weeks can be transformed into a 699$ credit when using Trading Places' Travel agency. In other words a 1 week Wyndham Hawaii reservation can be turned into 1398$ in airline ticket rebates.

There are some limitations. Check in date must be at least 45 days out.

Has anyone successfully used this system ? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

As usual, a mixture of truth and fiction.
1. True
2. Only partially true - Wyndham pays the membership fee for 3 years. After that, you will be billed in order to continue membership. I think it is something like $199.
3. True with the caveat you listed that the bonus week cannot be booked more than 45 days advance.
4. Mostly not true. It is the Wyndham week, not the Trading Places week and bonus week for which you can, if you choose, receive $699 in lieu of a deposit credit and bonus week. So, no you cannot turn one Wyndham week into a $1398 credit. You can turn it into a $699 credit if you wish.

HELP: Wyndham/TPI Pemier Access questions

The Wyn/TPI Premier access seems to be a bit different than the regular TPI Premier Access information found on their website. The Wyn extra benefits are listed but details are not given.

1. How many times per year can you turn in a Hawaii week to TPI and get the $699?
2. Do reserved Wyn Hawaii weeks need to be deposited at only 10 months ?
3. and therefore we can never use our VIP discounts for the 2 for 1 deposits?
In fact, it looks like we can be rushed only to deposit at the 10 month deadline.
4. Is the bonus week for the Wyn Premier Access only available up to 45 days or for a longer time?

Here are the “facts “ on the Club Wyndham Premier Access website info page.. limited detailed information.

Great Benefits!
Maintenance Fee Reimbursement
If you cannot travel this year, deposit your week with TPI and take advantage of this great benefit — Maintenance Fee Reimbursement up to $699 per week

Here is what the
Regular Premier Access details say:
From Regular Pre Access TPI site:
Maintenance Fee Reimbursement
1. Week must be deposited a minimum of 10 months in advance.
2. Reimbursement is for associated maintenance fees only. Maximum reimbursement will be $499 per week.
3. Deposits are limited to one week per year, per member.
4. Program is based on supply and demand; not all weeks will be accepted or are guaranteed reimbursement.
5. Maintenance fees must be paid to association prior to reimbursement; weeks are subject to verification.
6. All transactions are final, non-changeable and non-cancelable.
7. Once deposited with TPI, the week will be utilized at the sole discretion of Trading Places International.
8. Reimbursement will be issued to member within 45 days following the last day of the deposited week.
9. Offer is not combinable with any other promotions or programs.

HELP please

I don't know the answers to your questions but I am pretty sure you can only get the Wyndham TPI premier if you buy a Hawaiian property direct from Wyndham. They will pay the first 3 years and then you can continue to pay to stay in the program. You can't pay to join if you bought resale or if you bought retail at a non Hawaiian property.

We just bought a Hawaii property but wanted to be able to turn the weeks in for the $699 reimbursement, but looks like we can only do it once a year? (from previous posts) rather than 10 times, like our salesman told us.

and also, a previous post said we could not do it with a deposited week with a bonus week, and only within 10 months....

yes, we still have time to rescind

The reimbursement is "up to $699". My impression is if you have enough qualified Hawaiian points you could book multiple weeks and give them to TPI in exchange for reimbursement at 10 months or more. I can't imagine the reimbursement being worth more than the cost of the MF's for the points.

The 2 for 1 special (which generally also requires deposit 10 months in advance) is for a regular exchange and a bonus week exchange. Neither the exchange nor the bonus week could be deposited for reimbursement.

You can use your VIP privilege to bank a week and get a bonus week with it. But if you let the Trading Places premium access membership lapse, you won't get the bonus week, but you can still use you VIP privilege. The reservation just has to be 2 week or more out to bank it for a trade. It has to be banked much further out for some of the other things you can do with premier access.

You're saying 2 weeks but I thought the OP said 45+ days out? What are the vip privileges you are referring to? The 699 thing? Or the bonus week thing? I never thought those were vip only.

I also heard that the inventory r for TPI are pretty bad... Can anyone confirm or comment?

Thanks

If you find a week in one of the Hawaii resorts that Trading Places will take (they don't take all Hawaii resorts) from 2 weeks to 60 days out, you can book it with your VIP discount and upgrade for free (if it's available) and bank that with Trading Places. I've done 3 banks using half the points of a 1 bedroom and getting the trading power of a 2 bedroom in Trading Places. The bonus weeks come with any Hawaii trade if you're in Premier Access and that week has to be used within a year (or is it 2?) but not more then 45 days out. Kind of hard to plan a Hawaii vacation in less then 45 days for many of us, so I've let my Premier membership lapse and use the free Trading Places membership (which doesn't include the bonus week, ability to use it for cruises or maintenance fees, or the reduced exchange fee). They usually have certain units available a lot. You can go on line and check it out without being a member. I've lucked into a Maui Hill 2 bedroom trade and a Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy exchange (not 2 of their usual resorts). They also do a free waitlist so I'm hoping for another Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy exchange for next summer.
