Am having trouble with a Hawaii exchange this year. The last 2 or 3 years we have traded our Four Season time and put in requests for Hawaii, always only a specific week or two (due to work schedules that don't allow for much advance planning), for a specific resort (or two) and usually only rather late in
the game by most trading standards, i.e. September or October. And
always we have had no trouble being matched.

This year we need a specific week (very early Feb), but have put in for 7 resorts on several different islands with no luck. I can't figure out why this year's experience is so different, and whether we should wait for a while and or start thinking of requesting beyond Hawaii (NOOooooo :bawl: :) )

I'm not sure if you''re saying you were successful in getting a Sept/Oct Hawaii trade but now trying for a Feb week you aren't finding a matches, but if you are the reason is Feb is very prime time and Sept/Oct is the opposite.

No, doing the same thing we have been doing; booking the trades in the fall for the following late January/ February (always avoiding the obvious holiday weekends).

What I am really wondering is whether there are pools (even small ones) of units that get released closer to the date, i.e. rooms that may have been held and not used for promotions etc.

The very first year we used II to trade our Four Seasons (in 2009 though we had owned it for decade) we deposited a studio in the fall and were matched almost instantly with a 2 bdrm at the Westin Princeville for mid-March (and I think we put in 2 choices). Granted not February, but it is what worked that year and was even closer to spring break. Has Hawaii gotten more popular??
