I am so spoiled! We've just spent a week in Missouri at Timber Creek...had two units, with tons of room to spread out. On our way home to Maine now. Last night was in a Staybridge Suites in Columbus...it was a 2 BR/2BA, so almost like a condo. Tonight...we're at the Woodlands Inn in Wilkes-Barre. CULTURE SHOCK. We couldn't get our usual 2 BR suite in Scranton....so here we are, in hotel rooms that are next to each other. Hate. It. Give me my timeshare places ANY DAY!!!

Try living on the road to conduct your profession for 15+ years.

My heart bleeds for your overnight.

Not.

One thing I enjoy about hotels is the check in/out times. Most hotels are ready or can at least find a room that is ready by noon and will let me check out at noon on check out day if need be.

agree about the bummer stays in hotels once you have been in the timeshare units costing as much, or less the the hotel unit.

Depends on the hotel.

Love the service, beds made every day, clean towels. :D

If it was just my husband and me, or me alone, it would be okay. But I'm typing in the bathroom so I can have light, because it's after bedtime for the kiddos. Oh, well. Just one night, just one night, just one night. :)

I am staying in Shawnee tonight with a few others in a 2 bedroom deluxe. Just using it as a hotel room to sleep and watch the Olympic track (history tonight) before we head to New York City to stay in a 2 bedroom at a timeshare there.

That is the downside of timeshare stays is when you are forced to stay in a hotel room.

We do combination vacations, we try to stay at IHG with points from our Holiday Inn Club timeshare, the past few vacations have worked out well doing this. But is usually just DH and I. My preference is a room with a fridge and microwave. I also don't mind studio size condos. As long as it's not a tent.

There was a time in my youth when I enjoyed camping, too.
Now, now my idea of camping is spending the night at a Hampton Inn.

Sure, we love staying for extended time in huge, fully equipped condos in beautiful resort areas. But there are times when you just need a ROOM WITH A BED. Where you want it and probably on short notice.

We are in just such a place now. I'd give it two stars max, but it's where we wanted to see a couple of concerts, and it's dog friendly so my best friend can come too. The alternative would have been to stay home and miss a great weekend getaway.

Me too. Timesharing has introduced my family to a luxurious vacation lifestyle. Hotels just do not cut it for us any longer.

The last time we stayed in a hotel was a few years ago in Moab, UT, because there are no timeshares there.

I think we have reached a point, though, that for valuable vacation time, we prefer to skip a location that does not have a condo option. There may be the occasional exception for a pricey home rental for a week, but no more hotel rooms for us. Timeshares rule.

I agree 100%! I love my timeshare stays , BUT I love my hotel stays just as much!! On just about all our vacations it's just DH and I , so a hotel is great. I have top status now on Marriott, Hilton and IHG, so constantly upgraded to VERY large units, lounge access, and a lot of other perks. I am VERY spoiled, clean towels, daily maid service, clean sheets when I want them, etc. In the Middle East they REALLY pour on the benefits, amazing service, perks, platters and many other things like complimentary treats showing up during the middle of stays, lovely pastries, more fruit platters etc. And when I say platters, I mean platters! General managers stopping by to see us to see how our stays r going, etc. :)I always tell them I am ready to move into their hotels to live! Yes, I do love my hotels!! :)

I never thought we would stay in a hotel again, but a recent road trip required 2 nights in Holiday Inns, which we booked with points.

We have been traveling to the coast one night before our Hawaii flights, then we return to the coast after our Hawaii stays, during the daytime, then stay in a hotel again. Usually it's the same hotel.

We have status with Hyatt, IHG and Carlson-Rezidor. I sure prefer those Hyatt and Carlson hotels over the Holiday Inn, but we need to stay by the airport with that airport shuttle, and Holiday Inn seems to have the best locations, unless we want to stay away from the airports.

I use my IHG points and free night certificates at the Intercontinentals, OH MY! In Europe and the Middle East the benies r amazing! One of our favorite redemptions was on a trip to Oman last December for 7 nights at the IC. Fruit platter, large bottle of wine, rose water, walnut filled dates, a breakfast buffet that was AMAZING! and a lovely sea view room upgrade. Also lounge access, wonderful lounge! it even had a full blown afternoon tea, and breakfast was your choice, either the lounge or the buffet in the restaurant. The fresh juices were wonderful, even fresh carrot juice, and every fruit imaginable, some we had never even seen before. I have very fond memories of that stay. I mentioned to one of the staff what a fabulous hotel it was and how delicious the dates were, and the next thing I knew more were delivered to the room. What a great stay :).
