Has anyone stayed at Fox River in Sheridan Illinois

We are heading for the Fox River Resort in Sheridan IL next week. The reviews are quite old. Does anyone have anything to say about this resort? We are planning to drive into Chicago (1 1/2 hours) one or two days. We will be spending most of the time at the resort. Is there anything in the area that we should check out?
 
We were there last Aug. for a week. Had a great time, nice resort. This was the 2nd Silverleaf resort we've been to and they are all laid out the same. The resort is quite spread out and includes a camping area at the far end -lots of areas for walking. The nearby town of Ottawa has lots of murals on their buildings. There is also a river cruise there (dont know if it operates this time of year). We went into Chicago twice (ask at the desk about driving to the train instead of driving the whole way into Chicago -avoid parking problems), had tickets to see the Cubs but got rained out (after we'd sat in the stadium for 90 mins for a rain delay!).
We'd like to go back again -when it isnt so hot. Walking around Chicago in
+100F temps wasnt a whole lot of fun but we managed to see lots!

Thanks for the information. Especially the tip about driving to the train. That sounds like a fantastic idea and one the kids will really like as well. Glad to hear a positive report on Fox River. We have stayed in the Silverleaf resort in DeSoto and had a great relaxing weekend so we thought we would try Fox River. Unfortunately, the horses do not arrive until April but I think there will be enough to keep us busy. The kids love to golf but do not get to golf very often so that will be a big plus. Looking forward to the week ahead.
