Not in Cancun but we have purchased alcohol at the Costco in Cabo many times. Good selection and good prices.

We just returned from a wonderful week at Westin Lagunamar. We were looking for a middle of the road Mescal as a gift for a friend and prices at Costco for Montelobos were better than anywhere else in Cancun.

The best collection, if not the prices, is at La Europea a block away from Lagunamar. Definitely worth a visit.

We purchased some Tequilla at Costco (best price we found in Cancun) which was a much better price than in the US. It really doesn't matter how much you bring back, just declare it. We often bring back 2 to 3x times "the limit" and have never even had to pay duty on it. As long as you declare it, US Customs does not seem to care if you are over the limit. Now if you bring back 700 litres of Tequilla, they might charge you the duty on that..lol.

We often shop at La Europea. How do Costco's prices compare to theirs? I.e., is a trip to Costco worth it?

Choice at Costco is very limited. But the little they carry have great prices. If you are buying several bottles then it is worth driving to Costco.
Otherwise I would say, just stick to Europea, and not waste time to drive only to Costco. If you are combining the drive with lunch, etc around Cancun, then definitely do it.

So it's not like the Costco offerings at, say, Myrtle Beach or Maui?

Who needs Costco. We take the bus down to Super Sedrali. Great selection and prices. They have a cafe , so we stay for lunch before buying refrigerated stuff.

Took the bus to Costco in downtown Cancun to buy alcohol. Really not worth it. Its a bit of a walk from the bus stop. Nothing unique about the selections and prices not any better than at Europa or the supermarket, unless on sale. Once I came upon a 20% off sale during the Christmas season and was able to save some money on some expensive bottles. They sell the same stuff you can buy in the US.
