Stylwe keeps advertising on FB and I am seeing alot of varieties... I don't dress up anymore and I still have a ton of formal clothes from yesteryears but I am also 20 lbs heavier now..

After years of dressing down, non-iron, non-dry clean clothes, I am in need of adding some tasteful high quality formal dresses (long sleeves, maxi dresses preferably due to skin allergies issues) for occasions where I need to attend events and not embarrass my host but not break the bank at the same time. Thoughts on this site?

I've never ordered, but because the clothes look so nice, I've looked them up online. The reviews are TERRIBLE--orders take forever and clothing looks nothing like it does in the pictures. Sorry to say, because they have some really good-looking items.

Thanks. I forgot to look at reviews... I hate going to the stores but I guess I will have to suck it up and head to the mall one of these days...

It's been a while since I've ordered from these guys, but back then, I was happy with the quality and price: Drapers & Damons.

I notice they still seem to carry conservative, dressy wear, if that fits the bill.

Thank you for the tip. I scanned through and the site does look like it has dresses that I like.

I don't even own a dress anymore. I keep a pair of dressy palazzo pants with a wide elastic lace waist band and one pair of black patent leather shoes with a short heel.

I have a nice loose, but tapered black sleeveless top and one of those very light, long flowy sweaters to put over it. I use some nice pearl jewelry for contrast, makeup and I am good to go anywhere for the so very few times I need to be dressed up. Very stylish and classic.

I also have used a sleeveless, beaded, sparkly top with the pants with a beaded, sparkly jacket.

So comfortable- almost like wearing pajamas, but looks presentable.

Got them at Dress Barn- clearance of course.

I have not had a real need to dress up, and I am all about being comfortable. I don't even wear make up. But I may be attending a couple of formal events, like opening night of a new Broadway show (as a guest of the host), so I better start planning...

Yes. Me neither. Once in a blue moon we have a wedding to go to, and I have a work event- (gala- Saturday eve) coming up in November. So- will be getting this outfit out again.

I do need some makeup- though. I keep my hair very simple as well. (boy- am I tired of coloring it, though. Do that myself). And-I am lucky to put on some clear nail polish. LOL!

But when in doubt- black is my go to. Black pants, black top (but not always), black jacket, black shoes. Hides my weight bulge better, too. Ha! Ha!

You might try Zappos.com. I have been shopping Zappos.com for years. Great for shoes, dresses, swimwear and other clothes. Free shipping too. Typically, if I place an order in the morning I get the order by the end of the day the next day.

One word: Chico's.

Sale and coupons.

All of my "dress up" wear these days is from Chico's. If you purchase online many times you can get a better deal.
