Last October I booked a Caribbean Family Suite for a March 9-16 week to take our daughter and her friend. In December I had finally talked our 21 year old son and his friend into joining us so I booked a Caribbean Suite for the two of them.

I booked this all through an agent and airfare was included from several locations to get all 6 of us there at the same time.

When I received final travel documents last week they were incorrect and had us booked into two Caribbean Suites instead of one Caribbean and one Caribbean Family.

At this point the agent is telling me the resort is sold out and there is not any sort of option to give us similar to what I purchased. As an alternative we have been offered condos at the Paradisus Punta Cana.

My question is regarding the quality of the two resorts and if we accepted the alternative are we getting our money's worth? Staying at the Hard Rock is not a dream vacation and the kids although disappointed will have a great time regardless.

I can cause a fuss and probably eventually get this resolved, but if the alternative is just as nice then I really don't see a need to spend the time or energy. I understand it's a mistake and being in this business I know that happens from time to time.

If anyone has stayed at either or both and can offer any opinions that would be great. There are actually very mixed reviews on both locations online.

Thanks in advance,
Cindy

I do not know anything about the Paradisus, so I can only speak for the Hard Rock. We stayed there with our adult children and some friends in August of 2010 and loved the resort. As a cost saving measure, the kids shared a room. (A room will accomodate 4 adults, the all-inclusive fees go down for #3 and #4 in aroom.) The resort was huge. The pools are nice, the beach is nice. (Rough undertow though) The waitstaff at the pools and beach are fantastic, and will even serve you lunch. Many restaurants to choose from. Food ranged from great,to just ok. I prefer to stay away from the buffets. Lot's of fun "adult" enetertainment at the pools. There was also always beach volleyball and activities for the young crowd or anyone who had the energy to join in. The casino was lots of fun,the disco and nightly entertainment was pretty good, and I can honestly say that aside from the Grand Wailea Spa in Hawaii, this resort had the best Spa I have ever been to. I think the $1500 resort credit that you can use on golf, Spa and excursions can't be beat. You are really only in your room to sleep, or perhaps use the jacuzzi or relax on the balcony. I would recommend you go to Hard Rock and request 1 King room and 1 Double. Have the kids share a room. They will probably be hanging out together all week anyway.

Hey Deb,

I appreciate you posting your experience at the Hard Rock.

The were not able to fix our vacation there to our satisfaction so I did agree to relocate to the Paradisus. I will post a review when we return.

Thanks!
