Harborside Units and phase confusion...

Hi we are confirmed into 2 2-BR Getaways though II into Harborside.

How do I know what phase I am in and whether that is good or bad? I see posts all the time with discussions of phases and I am clueless as to what it means or what to expect.

The confirms say sleeps 8 ( I am a space hog ). I had a choice of sleeps 6 or 8 and took the 8, which I think is a 1 BR and a studio lock-off, perhaps.

Is there anyway to tell what I have and any clue what it means in terms of phase land size of room?

Thanks,
Cheryl

You will more than likely be in phase 2. But Harborside is a small resort. The big Question is ,will you get a warter veiw or not. One thing that determens what building you get is the day you check in on .

So, what does phase 2 imply..older, newer better, smaller, far away....I am not clear on the significance of it. What are the pros and cons?

Also, my check in day is Saturday....so waht does that mean for view? Is there any merit in calling to request or does it not work like that?

I will need 2 cribs and 2 high chairs as well...are they accomodating to such requests?

Thanks.

Phase 1 is fixed Week float unit . Phase 2 is fixed unit fixed .week . For the most part you will not be able to tell the differance.I am not sure of whitch building you will be getting They are ALL VERY GOOD As for the crib it won't be a problem. You will find they are very friendly and nice to work with.Again the resort is small you won"t be out back any place. It is Atlantis that is huge And yes Harborside is part of Atlantis. You will have a great time ! Not to worry

Phase one is, obviously, older, and has a bright, caribbean decor, and VCRs. Phase two has smaller square footage, but it doesn't really feel smaller when you're in it. The decor is more sophisticated and neutral, and there are DVD players. Phase one generally has the nicer views. Many of the phase two units look at each other, although some have harbor views and some have pool view.

Chances are you will be in phase two, simply because there are two buildings in phase two and only one in phase one with Saturday checkin. With a Saturday checkin, a phase one unit would likely get you a nice marina view. If you are arriving early in the day, you could sweetly ask the folks at the front desk for phase one, or if you won't be arriving early, you could call the front desk two weeks in advance to put in a request.

You can call housekeeping for cribs when you get there and they will bring them right up. They cost $25 for the week. Not sure about high chairs...

arlene22 and water-dog,

Thanks so much for your feedback. I just really like to know what to expect before I get someplace and we are dragging my parents along as well so the fewere surprises the better.

Great tip about when to make a room view request. So the only water views are phase one, then right?

Sounds like they will consider requests and that you do not necessarily get the exact unit you are confirmed to?

Does the fact that we have a 2 BR 2 BA sleeps EIGHT imply Phase 1 or 2, and if so, will that impact room assignment flexibility?

thanks, Cheryl

Liked i said rm are assigned by the day you arive. The only differance between phase 1 and 2 is the decor and a couple of square feet.

The cribs come with high chairs.
The only way to know for sure is if you have a two bedroom versus a two bedroom lockoff because Phase 1 only has two bedroom lockoffs.
However I think that since your unit sleeps 8 it is likely a lock off as I think the two bedroom only sleeps 6 as there would only be one sleep sofa in that unit.
Saturday check in for Phase 1 will be the reception building and a great view.
One of the SAturday bldgs in Phase 2 is the building facing the harbor and siding to the Harborside pool.
If you get a great location feel lucky==you won't be in your room that much unless the weather is bad!!!!!!!!!!

Very cool. If that is the case about phase 1 has the lockoffs, then that is most likely where we are. We have two rooms and they were II getaways and they were supposed to each have two kitchens ( maybe one is a mini kitchen) because the II rep was asking me what on earth we would do with FOUR kitchens! I really love good views so I was trying to determine if there was any way to know and it sounds as though you have narrowed it down pretty well.

Thanks. I feel very hopeful that we may have stumbled into the right choicehttp://www.tugbbs.com/forums/images/smilies/ignore.gif

I think what Maria was saying is that there are lockoffs in both phases, but only dedicated 2 BRs in phase 2. So if you had a sleep 6, you would definitely be in phase two, but with a sleeps 8 you can be in either phase. It doesn't really matter what your confirmation says-- they will put you wherever they want to. In my experience, requests made to Starwood do not have much weight, but being nice to the ladies at the front desk does!

ok. cool. thanks for the clarification and I will be sure to turn on the charm a bit an see if we can secure a great view. Thanks. Now that brings some context to what was seeming like slightly divergent opinions. But, I have definitely found the room assignment protocals at timeshares are notoriously non-specific. This one sounds no different.

Normally, I would agree, but I have 3 young kids, 4 and 15 month old twins that still all nap, so we do spend a fair amount of time in the room, so I like to have something to gaze out on while we are all enjoying quiet time!

Thanks, remaining hopeful.
