Unit is rated for 8 people but a roll away (based on availability) allows an additional person. Assuming the roll away is requested at say 12 months:

Because roll away is not guaranteed, what happens to the 9th person if the resort does not have one at check in? Most likely the 9 people group flew, so it is not reasonable to send the 9th person back. How about if the resort is fully booked and there are no more units? Can the person sleep on the "floor"?

Also, if there is a roll away available, would the 9th person get a water park wrist band?

I asked these questions to several SVN reps and I seem to get different answers (not surprised about that at all). Apparently the resort decides what to do with the 9th person at check in. And the 9th person does not get a wrist band.

Any thoughts?

The 9th person gets a wrist band (as does the 5th person in the 1 bedroom premium). I put in the request as soon as I make the reservation at 12 months prior. I have been told that they always have enough roll outs for everyone who requests them 6+ months prior (even during the busiest times) and that the only time it has been a problem has been for stray nights booked fairly last minute.

Sounds like you actually have gotten the wrist band for the 9th or 5th depending on unit. When was the last time you got it? I am sure that was the case in January 2015 when I was there. Not sure if rules changed since then.

The SO called Harbirside because he was not sure and he told the Harborside reservations person said the 9th person would not get it. I know you cannot trust what they say, but playing it safe, you may have to assume that you could be charged $110 Dollars (or whatever the current day pass is) x the number of days.

Mine was in July 2015. I also have a reservation rented out for next 4th of July and the renter is counting on that 5th armband. I own the 1 bedroom premium.

Premium Villa 1 Bedroom

Premium Villa 2 Bedroom
1 king, 1 Queen, Sofa bed and a Rollaway - 1367 square feet - Villa features fully equipped kitchen and kitchenette - Private patio or balcony with table and chairs - Maximum occupancy: 9, including 1 infant under age 4

There is no indication that the extra person would not be eligible for a wristband.

Thanks for posting. I agree, that leads me to believe the 9th or 5th person would get the wrist band because they would fall under the max occupancy.

The website, and the confirmations, only state the number of guests that the permanent beds accommodate - they don't state that you can add a roll-away and an additional person. It's the same at the Maui resorts - an extra person, and a roll-away are permitted in the one bedrooms, and 2 bedrooms, but it doesn't say that on the website or the confirmation.

This was much discussed several mos. ago, when reservations and the front desk disagreed on this point, and that is when they added the link on the confirmations that states which units allow roll-aways, and which do not.

I guess it is OK to advertise rentals for 9 people and 5 people. Hopefully they are never charged for the extra band, which is the real amenity difference between other resorts and Harborside.

You will be able to "get" up to the amount of wristbands as the room can accommodate ...They do not hand you the wristbands they will put them on each person's arm.... they also keep up with how many people have gotten wristbands for that day so everyone doesn't have to go to the towel hut together....
