Guide To Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Elite Status

Does any MVC ownership or usage affect Bonvoy status? Either an owned week (resale or enrolled) or points?

You get Elite Night Credit for stays at MVC resorts. You can also get specific status for one owner based on the number of points you own- but no specific status for owning weeks only (unless enrolled weeks than they could as that many points.)

Yes, your MVC status can give your Bonvoy status a bump. See the benefits chart

We became lifetime Platinum Elite members the last time we purchased dc points in May 2021.

That's great. Can you please share (if not private information) how you got "lifetime" platinum? My wife got the yearly platinum status based on the tier. I suppose since we have the DC points forever so the effective status is a "lifetime". I already had lifetime Titanium so asked to give the status to my wife. My understanding at the time (when the lifetime Marriott and SPG combined) was that lifetime actually didn't give you the annual choice benefit. Do you get the annual choice benefit? Thank you.

It’s all spelled out on the Marriott Bonvoy site.
You can earn yearly status based on your destination club benefits level as posted above.
You can also earn nights with Marriott/Bonvoy credit cards.

I don't own any Marriotts but became Lifetime Platinum Elite the old fashioned way, nights in hotel rooms. I lived in the Westin River North in Chicago for the better part of a year, but only 4 nights a week, so about 170 days (while working on a project, back in my E&Y Consulting days).

MVC ownership does not give you lifetime status. If you sell the points you lose the status- but keep it as long as you own the qualifying points.

You only get the choice benefit when you hit 50 nights and 75 nights. No one gets it automatically for having credit card earned status, lifetime status or status earned through MVC points ownership, etc.

To clarify, MVC Salesreps speak of 'Lifetime' benefits from MVC ownership but that isn't what Marriott (the hotel company) considers "lifetime". MVC's benefits last only as long as you own the qualifying enrolled weeks and/or points.

People who own their MVC property in more than one name have changed the Marriott Bonvoy number associated with their MVC account when one of the partners achieve 'true' lifetime status so that the other partner gets Bonvoy Elite status from MVC.

OK that's what I thought it's not "lifetime", but annual while having the right tier. Thanks for clarifying.
