Has anyone come across a coffee maker that also grinds the beans that they just love. I really liked my Cuisinart until it stopped working correctly. It shuts off completly after making a pot of coffee and yes, I've cleaned it and done everything Cuisinart reccommends to no avail. It is about a year and half old.
Time for a new one but which one?

Starbucks had some I looked at a couple of years ago that I really liked. I just couldn't validate spending $300 to $500 on one. A co-worker who runs a shaved ice trailer in the summer at local events bought one so he could use it to sell coffee drinks from his trailer. It's been maybe 4 or 5 years now and it's still going strong. He'd bring it to work every now and then and I could make myself a cafe americano that was just as good as what I was buying at Starbucks. Almost made me want to go buy one despite the fact I don't drink that much coffee at home.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the brand. It was not the typical brand you might see at Wal-Mart or Bed, Bath and Beyond.

We're on our 3rd Cusinart...my wife really likes the coffee it makes, but they just don't seem to last much beyond 1-1/2 years. Maybe buy one with a 3-year exptended warranty?

I switched to a Krups single cup maker using Ekobrew cups with bold coffee, on the second to last larges setting. But...my wife doesn't like it...she thinks the coffee is too weak. However, she likes to grind her own using decaff flavored coffee.

We have a Cuisinart grinder and a Cuisinart brewer.
The grinder has been in use for 10 years and still going strong.
The brewer has been replaced twice.

I'm on my 2nd Cuisinart Grind and brew. I really like it with my Starbucks French Roast beans. First one lasted 3 years before it died. I'm hoping the 2nd one last as long. I usually make one to two pots of coffee in it a day. So it does see a lot of use.

We have had over 10 years' service from our Capresso combo drip/pump espresso machine. I only say this because they make the Jura/Capresso line of all-in-ones. They aren't cheap, but look cool and might fill the bill for you.

I have a humongous, commercial, red Jericho grinder (looks cool, too), so the all-in-ones have little appeal, but wonder what I will go to when the current coffee maker craps out. There is nothing similar on the market- and maybe that says something too.

Everyone seems to report short life and high per-cup cost of the pod-type brewers, so maybe it will just be a stainless drip machine and a separate espresso maker for when I am in the mood for something fancier than just plain coffee.

We were gifted a nice Cuisinart grinder/brewer combo but it just didn't work and was a mess. Nowadays we brew in a Cuisinart, but grind separately. Still a mess.

Cuisinart Today

This just keeps driving me nuts. Used it twice yesterday and it worked fine.
I really like the way it grinds and the taste of the coffee and when it works correctly the temp. it stays it. Now if I could only figure out why it works one day and not another.
I guess I just need to keep my eyes open for another one or keep buying machines till I find another that I like.
Cuisinart sure isn't much help when writing to them on line.

I have a Capresso that I love. I would guess that it's about 15 years old. I bought it at Williams Sonoma for around $200. I didn't realize until I tried it how much better freshly ground coffee is.

Bart...

I will bet that the problem is in a temp sensor, though I would have no clue where it is or if it's replaceable. Maybe there is a small appliance repair guy nearby? He might tell you it's not worth putting the money into fixing it. Or you could send it to Alan Cole. He seems particularly adept at these things- or at leat willing to try :)

Thanks for the input. The last several days it has worked fine. It is driving me nuts trying to figure it out.
