Land at Seatac Friday noon (8/11) and dont have to be to work until Monday morning in downtown Seattle. 1st time here. Hotels for the weekend are outrageous. Accommodation suggestions, bnb's, suggested to-do's both outside the city or in the city? Thanks!

I know Seattle can be crazy expensive. When we've gone I've just done a check for whatever is around. You could try using Trivago or Booking.com to see what hotel prices are. You can also check vrbo or airBnB. I don't have specific recommendations.

I would recommend the Chihuly museum, which wasn't there the last time I visited. Pike Place Market is always a favorite. My daughter and I took an underground tour of Seattle that was really interesting.

You may check this out... everything that you want to see. We bought 5 attractions pass... they sell solo, 2 or 5, or something like that. You do not need to buy ahead. You can take the light rail to the Space Needle stop. Chihuly Museum and several other attractions are all there. The city passes are sold on the ground floor of Space Needle.

Suggest Silver Cloud Inn for weekend lodging, on Broadway. Or maybe the one by stadiums on 1st and Royal Brougham.

Homewood Suites on Pike at Boren, is pretty nice, and just outside of downtown. Silver Cloud is just a bit farther.

Will send more info later.

The haze from forest fire smoke is currently very very bad. The forecasts re when it should clear have changed several times. The smog might be here when you're here. Consequently, I recommend Mt. Rainier https://www.nps.gov/mora/index.htm
Not sure about weekend accommodations. For major chains either Puyallup or Tacoma are much closer to Mt Rainier than Seattle.
