Just heard I have a choice between Grande Vista and Cypress Harbour. I am not taking the kids. (Just 2 adults going). Not interested in the activities on site. However, I would like the newest, most elegant resort. Which one has the best WOW factor. One reviewer of Grande Vista said they had cockroaches in their unit. That would ruin my vacation. Cypress Harbor is 25 years old? Yikes. Any suggestions?

We own at MGV and love the resort. We have stayed at Cypress Harbour also. All units at Cypress Harbour have been redone so they are all in consistently good condition. In Florida you can have bug problems in just about any hotel/TS unit. I don't think that CH is 25 years old. MVCI has only been in the TS business a little over 25 years and they built three resorts in Orlando prior to Cypress Harbour so it isn't that old.
From our experience, Cypress Harbor is a quieter resort that has a well-matured landscape. If you want onsite amenities and food options then MGV is the better option. There are plenty of treads on here that a quick search will turn up asking the very same question you just did. Check some of those out for some answers to your questions.

Thanks for the thread suggestions. I guess I cannot go wrong with either. Thanks for the help.

I own at GV and have stayed there 5-6 times. I also have stayed at CH before I owned at GV. Both are nice properties and you can't go wrong staying at either site. This is what I see to be the main difference.

GV has the big resort feel. Landscaping is not mature here and won't be able to match CH. CH feels smaller and is surrounded with palm trees. There is a lot more shade at this resort. Also, the 2bdr units at GV are mostly lockoffs and I don't beleive that the 2bdr units at CH are lockoffs. There also seemed tto be more kids at GV. I have never felt that either resort was crowded even when I have been there during peak seasons. I guess you can thank the parks for that.

I have stayed at 4 different TS resorts in Orlando and have never seen a bug in my unit, so I wouldn't let one post steer my decision.

I couple things I would consider highly with no kids:

CH - not as large, much more relaxed atmosphere, all 2BR, no timeshare salesmen everywhere.

GV - huge, restaurant and golf on site, very busy with people of all ages, some units are brand new.

I agree you can't go wrong on either. I've been to both three times at all different times during the year and would prefer CH if I had my pick of a 2BR at both.

Just one final comment. If you have a lock off unit to trade, it can generally pull a 1BR at GV.

While there are no salesmen at Cypress Harbour you are still very likely to receive a phone call and invitation to a presentation. All of the sales staff is now located in the sales gallery at the entrance to Grande Vista. The gallery is a bit of a drive to the actual resort. I think they even pulled the sales office out of Horizons to centralize it in the one place.

We were at Cypress Harbour last week and own at Grande Vista. Comments above are very accurate as to the quality and atmosphere of both resorts. One sales call to us about taking a tour, a simple no thanks and that was it.

You may have missed my point, and I probably wasn't clear since I was pretty concise.

At Grande Vista (and Horizons), you will see a lot of sales folks with potential buyers riding around in golf carts, wandering through the buildings, in the marketplace, etc. The same is true for any big resort under development (saw same at Newport Coast).
