Location
Texas-elevation 950 feet
Cordial front office personnel and also at the activity desk.

Beautiful facility with alpine flowers most every where.

From the time we parked at the gate until I left Fox rent a car was 1 hr 30 min!!! Fox had carefully washed the windows with a dirty rag mop. First experience with Fox probably the last even though they were the cheapest.

Today is Sunday, 50-70 degrees--delightfully overcast, with intermittent showers this afternoon--feels great to me after no rain in Texas for at least 3 months.:cheer:

More Later.

You gotta love the mountains in the summer. Welcome to the cool, Colorado high country. In Denver, it's been in the 90's almost every day for months. Too bad we are too busy to make a trek to the cool mountains.

I hope it doesn't snow while you are there. Did you bring some warm clothes, Sterling? Seriously. It snows in the summer at the higher elevations.

Be sure to drink lots and lots of water, both of you.

Grand Timber is a very nice resort with a location that feels a little more remote while still being close to town. We have reservations for next year at Grand Timber and reservations next month at their sister resort Grand Lodge on Peak 7. We're looking forward to seeing how Grand Lodge compares to Grand Timber.

Kauai Kid:

How long will you be there? We will be arriving in Breckenridge Friday afternoon.

For the life of me I can't figure out why the units are so warm that the windows must be open all the time with the fans running. Noticed the same thing with every single unit in our bldg 1. No the heaters are not on.

Is there a fireplace, and is the pilot lit for it? The reason I asked is that is a common complaint at Valdoro as well. I think the units are so well insulated (for the winters) that even a pilot light of the fireplace can make a noticable difference in the room. At Valdoro, I asked for the gas to be completely shut off to the fireplace, and that made a big difference (and the staff said they have to do that often for summer stays, especially in the smaller studio rooms).

Also, make sure the sun does not shine in your windows during the daytime. You are at over 10,000 ft., and the UV rays are much more powerful there (due to less atmosphere for them to travel through). And that is why you can sunburn there so easily as well...
