Grand Solmar construction update?

I grabbed a two bedroom lockout in the first week in October at Solmar and I am considering a quick trip at that time, but I wonder how far along construction is.. my reservation number starts with B, so I wonder if that means building B - which I know may be facing construction.. has anyone seen the status of construction lately? Ever since my nightmare at the Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta, I am very careful with resorts still under construction...

Any construction updates

I have an II exchange for a 2 bedroom lockout in early may. Just wondering if construction will still be going on at that time and if so what are the steps to try and get a room as far removed from noise.

Can I call in before and request a certain building room etc?

Any other suggestions, tips of resort and area would be greatly appreciated

Thanks again

We stayed at Grand Solmar the second week of Nov 2012 on an II exchange.

They use ResortCom for reservations...assuming the reservation number you have is from Grand Solmar/ResortCom then the reservation number has no meaning - the B does not imply the B building. It's just a number that begins with B. (That's an oxymoron). FWIW - our reservation number began with an "A"

Observations:
- The resort did not honor the unit type listed on the II confirmation. And did nothing to rectify the situation when called on it. Although it was not a problem for us at all...just noting that they didn't care.
- The resort and the unit we stayed in were gorgeous - Two Bedroom Presidential.
- We were in the "I" or 9xxx building - closest to Land's End and thus the furthest from the construction. We had no construction noise or view issues in our room.
- The noise from the construction was noticeable during the days around the large pool - not horrible, but noticeable. We elected to spend our pool time away from this area.
- Here is a link to photos of the construction at that time. http://2012novgrandsolmarconstrpics.shutterfly.com/40#40 These pictures are merely of the areas under construction...they are no indication of the state of the rest of the resort which is great. Visit TripAdvisor for non-construction photos.

Safe travels.

Bob, thanks for the info. It sounds like you recvd the best possible room....being that far removed from the construction noise.

Did you call before hand to request this room or was it just luck of the draw?

Thanks again, Andy

Yes, being on that end of the resort was a huge plus for us.

I did not call and make a request. As an exchange versus a member reservation I expect to be lower in the priority for the best rooms...only fair.

I think it was just luck of the draw...with a caveat.
Our confirmed reservation was for a two bedroom penthouse ... we were downgraded to a two bedroom presidential (which is a great unit nonetheless) so for all I know, we may have rec'd a better location due to the change in room type.
