I have forgotten what the name of the site is for government employees for discount travel. Someone on TUG told me once...any help?
Thanks

Here is some info:

Inexpensive Travel if you are Flexible

There are thousands of Timeshare Weeks that are left over. Two major companies try to find exchanges for owners. One is Resorts Condominium International- called RCI....the other is Interval International -called II. Each company offers their extra weeks to government & military workers, retirees & veterans. (II has fewer, but sometimes higher quality-Marriott, Disney, Hyatt, some Westins)

The RCI sites are many. I'll just give you a few- they are practically the same, except one may have more choices (#1). Click on (ALWAYS CHECK $299 WEEKS FIRST)

#1. www.getravelop.com (For US & Canadian non-federal workers-state, muni local, city hospital)

#2 www.afvclub.com for military (including Guard, Reserved & Fed workers and all Fed /NG/Res/Grey Area & retired )

#3 www.veteransholidays.com For Veterans

#4) www.mygovholiday.com For all UK Goverment Employees

#5) www.holidaynetwork.com RCI general Public. There is a less expensive site for general public...need to find it. (Skyauction is/was part)

You can check all over, and see whats available for what dates. They have more expensive than $299, but if they don't rent- they may go down to $299 as dates get nearer. (RCI also runs a public rental site for cottages & homes in USA & Overseas)

Interval & Trading Places:

#6) www.govarm.com All Gov Employees

#7) www.condodirect.com General Public

These sites and II in general have Hyatt, Marriott, and Sheraton T/Ss are here (Hiltons are in RCI). You will need to register. Some hotels mentioned seem to have stopped allowing their units for this type rental..... Prices here are more than $264 usually, however, distressed weeks have gone for $99.00. That was a 3 bedroom Ventura on Boca Ratons beach in Fl. Usually much more. You need to be flexible to get some of these bargains.

Now- how do you know what the place is really like? Check out a web site that rates T/S resorts. Go to www.tug2.net Ask questions on their BBS,

Finally, www.vrbo.com is where you can rent for a month or longer. These are not T/Ss but private rentals. A few other exchange companies give weeks to all members for $99.00 & up. search Google for Dial an Exchange (free to join) or SFX (San Francisco Exchange. (also free to join lowest level)

I'm impressed by your list! :)
Here are a couple more:
http://www.alumnitravelbenefits.com
http://www.icondovacations.com
(Costco is now affiliated with that one from its website)

Also

www.snaptravel.com

PS the holiday network and snap travel seem to be almost the same site. Very minor differences.

That list has been posted on tug for a long time now....since Marge (RCI) and Craig (II) gave us the information.

Since most of us are able to access the 'extra weeks or times' for less on the exchange companies sites, we don't usually refer to the public suites.

Also, remember, there are similiar specials on Trading Places, SFX, DAX and some other independant exchange companies, and they don't always charge a membership fee.

But, I think I will add then to the memory of the page above (which originally was set up for the military members)

Thanks everyone...I'll add Bills, too
