By now, most folks know about "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," the silly theory that any actor in the film industry can be linked within 6 steps to Kevin Bacon... many with far less.

Google now has a feature in which you can enter "bacon number [name of celeb]" and it will show the number of steps it takes to link that person to Kevin Bacon.

Example: "bacon number Patrick McGoohan" returns...
Patrick McGoohan's Bacon number is 2
-- Patrick McGoohan and Fred Ward appeared in Escape from Alcatraz.
-- Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon appeared in Tremors.

This article found a flaw becuz it does not use the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), but instead its own knowledge base -- http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/09/google-bacon-number-kevin-bacon.html

I tried this with probably 20 different actors/actresses, I couldn't find one with a number higher than 2. Even Charlie Chaplin is only separated by 2.

Charlie Chaplin and Tippi Hedren appeared in A Countess from Hong Kong.
Tippi Hedren and Kevin Bacon appeared in Jayne Mansfield's Car.

"Entertainment Weekly" attempted to find people with high bacon numbers.
Even reality stars like Kim Kardashian and Snooki are only 2 and 3 degrees away.
Reportedly, there are 32 people in the IMDb database with a Bacon number of 8.

It was tuff, but I found a few 3's...
Red Skelton, Donna Douglas (Beverly Hillbillies) & James MacArthur (Hawaii Five-O).

Tim Tebow is a "4" (that was a stretch).

I found two 3s:

Jean Renoir, the movie director from the 1930s, who also acted in a couple of movies.

and (this was a surprise)
Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar. He's HUGE in India and internationally and has made dozens of movies. It's kind of astounding that he wasn't a 2.

Having met Meg Ryan when she was in Baltimore to film Sleepless in Seattle, I used to think I was three away from K. Bacon (Meg Ryan to Tom Cruise to Kevin Bacon) but researching Meg Ryan, they are showing her as one away as he was in an uncredited role with her in 2004. So hell, even I'm only two away!

and that, then, makes me only three.....;)

Wait, I know someone who was an extra in a Sylvester Stallone movie...he's a 2...so she's a 3!

Carole Lombard, Betty Hutton, Tom Mix, Gene Autry, W.C. Fields, Gloria Swanson, Stewart Granger, all 3.

William Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy) no connection found....hmmm? ;)

Now I'm hooked trying to find any 3+ people.

Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan) is a 3 but that's the only one (in an hour) I could find.

Bottom line . . . Kevin Bacon's way toooooo connected!

p.s. Max Baer (Jethro of Beverly Hillbillies is also a 3)

Actually I think they're wrong as they show Jimmy Fallon as a two . . . and Tebow was on Fallon's show earlier this year after the Tebowie Spoofs. So that would make him a three . . . without having to go through Brian Bosworth :)

Elizabeth McGovern is a <1>. She was in "She's Having a Baby" with him.

I watched Elizabeth McGovern film a scene on the set of "Clover" (1997).
-- It was a made-for-TV movie. The Producer was a friend.

I think that makes me a "2."

Somehow the word "incest" comes to mind. :hysterical:

I've watched Kevin Bacon movies and interviews. Does that count?

Oh dear, now the bacon cravings have begun.

Bob Marley's Bacon number is 4
Bob Marley and Gregory Isaacs appeared in Land of Look Behind.
Gregory Isaacs and T-Pain appeared in Reggae Spring Break: Part 2.
T-Pain and Eve appeared in Good Hair.
Eve and Kevin Bacon appeared in The Woodsman.

Bob Barker's Bacon number is 3
Bob Barker and Ben Stiller appeared in Happy Gilmore.
Ben Stiller and John Lithgow appeared in Orange County.
John Lithgow and Kevin Bacon appeared in Footloose.

Unless you were in Clover, then no, you are still not connected.

I checked Ringo Starr (2) and found he was connectied thru Phil Collins in "A Hard Day's Night."
I may have heard+forgotten that this now famous rocker was in that film, albeit uncredited as a "fan."

Thought this one was interesting.

Lee Greenwood's Bacon number is 3
Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith appeared in Party Tyme Karaoke: Country Hits 2.
Toby Keith and Kelly Preston appeared in Broken Bridges.
Kelly Preston and Kevin Bacon appeared in Death Sentence.

Lee Greenwood (singer) was on the same compilation album as Toby Keith.

Don Diamont (played Brad Carlton on the Young and the Restless) was also in Anger Management (I guess uncredited, though he does show up on IMDb). A "Bacon Number" search turns up no connection even though it should be 2. Since Nicholson and Bacon were both in a Few Good Men.

I got the opportunity to meet and have a conversation with Kevin Bacon at my national conference this summer. (He's decided to own this, BTW, and his foundation is called "6 Degrees." It's pretty great...http://www.sixdegrees.org/)

My Bacon number is therefore 1.

Which makes all of your Bacon numbers 2.

You're. welcome. :D

As an aside, I learned in the NPR story that ran on this new Google functionality--heh--that this game was invented by three guys in a dorm room at Albright College, in Reading, PA, where I spent most of my childhood. Albright was, incidentally, located on the only street in America (13th Street) where, back when I was living there, one could be born, receive a pre-K through BA education, live, work, die and be buried all on the same street. Alas, the hospital closed a few years ago, so that's no longer true.

Kevin Bacon was in Guiding Light as a young teen. I'd be surprised if there was a direct soap connection with Don Diamont.

P.S. I had no idea DD was in Anger Management. I guess that was why he was uncredited.
