Thinking of buying an annual plat 1br at Kierland for 67,100 StarOptions. What would be a good price? Thanks

A good value would be to buy 81K SOs - resale SOs cannot be combined...
it also depends on what season you want (consider MFs cost per year)

I'm pretty sure that Seth was agreeing with the first part of David's statement:

"A good value would be to buy 81K SOs..."

Since many of the "super high demand" Starwood resorts require a minimum of 81K options to reserve a week, there are several people which recommend that 81K be the minimum purchase. That isn't to say that 67K couldn't be a good deal but most starwood Tuggers say buy at least 81K.

We already own 81,000 EOY at VV. I was thining of adding the 67,100 if I could find a good deal since the MFs are very reasonable. I have looked into the 81,000 options and the cost seems to be quite a bit higher for the 1br premium at WKV.

I had assumed we could use our VV (81,000) plus 67,100 to get a 2br in Hawaii since the units are lockoffs. Is this not correct?

Thanks

Yes, in your case, a unit with 67,100 options would be a nice pairing with an 81,000 option unit. This would allow you to book a 2 bedroom unit in the high demand locations. Technically, it would actually allow you to separately book a 1 bedroom and a studio, since options can't be combined. Hopefully, you would then be able to request that the two sides connect.

For a first purchase, I agree that 81,000 options is a good amount to start with. 67,100 is ok if you'll be satisfied with a studio unit in the higher demand areas.

Just so you are aware that SOs cannot be combined so the reservations may have to be made separately for getting a 2Bd LO.

Yes - 81K SOs are more costly than 67.1K SOs (relatively), but the value in 81K SOs (in most cases) is greater from many aspects.

As to the price of 67.1K SOs at WKV (1Bd Dlx, Plat) - MY OPINION - IF WE WERE LOOKING - CAVEAT EMPTOR - I would look to pay about $7K. This may (or may not) be low, but if I were to pay more, then I would buy 81K SOs.
