Golf & Other things to do in Ft. Lauderdale

Going this coming friday. Was thinking about bringing my golf clubs, but it looks like there are few places to golf - am i missing something or is it worth it? Are there any other golf courses in Ft. Lauderdale

I'm taking my 14 year old son - any other recommendations? Is Deep-sea fishing an option? We typically do this but i haven't heard that Fr. Lauderdale is a fishing spot.

We'll have a car - South Beach isn't an option for the kids..
 
There is plenty of golf in South Florida.....look into the Carolina Club.....Boca Raton has some great muni courses that are dirt cheap and play nice....if you are not adverse to a little drive, Doral and PGA are about an hour away.

I would call BPT ahead of your visit and ask for some course options.......but there is plenty of golf down there.

Same on the fishing....there are private charters, party boats and you can rent and go it alone if you like.
 
Golf in Florida? It's loaded with golf. The Ft Lauderdale I don't know so well, but a little North in Boca, as you heard, has a bunch of public places. I've played Polo Trace down near there when it was new. Pricey but really nice. I've played the county muni in Boca "Southwinds" a bunch of times. It's OK golf and the price is low. There are plenty of others. I don't know when the prices drop in Florida off peak season, but it might be around now. In the summer it is so cheap it is unbelievalbe---you play for cart fee everywhere in the afternoon. Of course, it is 95 degrees, too. I would take the clubs and try to get out with you son. I still remember the couple times I took my then 10 year old out down there (he's married and gone now).
